23.01.2022 It's starting to feel real! We can't wait to welcome you.

21.01.2022 We are very excitedly starting to plan our return to work in our wonderful new clinic. Here is our roadmap for reopening face to face therapy. It directly correlates to the Victorian Government plan for the Metro Melbourne Health Sector. We take the health of our team, our clients and our community very seriously, so we are adopting a cautious approach and will be following the Victorian Government's health advice throughout the return. Therefore, should the government dates change, we will roll out our plan according to the new dates. Well done Victorians - we're doing a great job!

21.01.2022 I'm sorry to announce that due to the continued spread of the virus in Victoria and the return to Stage Three lockdown measures, we will not be returning to face to face therapy next week. We were so looking forward to welcoming you to our new clinic space and your therapists are very disappointed that they won't get to see you in person. But your health and the health of our team have to be our number one priority. So in line with today's announcement we will not be resuming... normal operations for a minimum of six weeks. A small number of clients who meet strict criteria are being offered face to face services. Your clinician will have contacted you if this applies. We all wish that we were able to offer this more widely, but current risk-assessments do not allow it. As soon as we are able, we will extend this service to more families. Our online therapy service continues, ensuring that clients can still work towards their goals, and just as importantly, that they do not slip backwards and lose the benefits of what they have achieved so far. We look forward to continuing to support your family through this next period of lockdown.

21.01.2022 Once again, the end of the financial year comes at a time when many of our families have been impacted by the economic uncertainty of a lockdown. So we have made the decision again this year to hold off on applying our CPI fee increase until later in the year, in the hope that we can all get onto a more solid financial footing. Unfortunately we won’t be able to delay the increase indefinitely, as our own expenses will have the CPI increases applied from July 1st, but we will try to postpone for as long as we can. This only applies to our Medicare and Private paying clients. NDIS clients will continue to be charged according to the NDIS Price Guide, which has not yet been released for the next financial year.

18.01.2022 This is a great idea for kids who don’t like the feeling of a mask around their ears. There are many other helpful suggestions in the comments too.

18.01.2022 We are excited to advise that following from the Premier’s announcement on the 18th October 2020, we are now able to see clients face to face in our beautiful new clinic. Our advice from both Speech Pathology Australia and Occupational Therapy Australia is that where possible we should continue to deliver services online. If your current online therapy is working well for you, we advise you to continue working that way for the time being. Over the coming week, your clinician ...may contact you to discuss the suitability of you/your child coming into the clinic for face to face therapy. For those that have not received face to face therapy until now, you will receive an email on the day before your appointment which provides important information regarding your return to clinic-based therapy. Please note that if you haven’t heard from your clinician, your appointment will be online. Our waiting room continues to be closed. We are currently investigating the possibility of clinicians being able to see clients at school, preschool or child care and will be able to provide more information soon. While we are still not able to see clients in the home environment, we are hoping that this will also change soon. We can’t wait to welcome you to our beautiful new clinic space.

18.01.2022 Due to the ongoing difficulties in Victoria, we have made the decision to hold off on our scheduled July fee increase until we return to face to face therapy in our new clinic (NDIS rates continue to be in line with the official NDIS fee schedule). Today's government directive indicated that we will be providing telehealth services only for the next six weeks, unless families require emergency support. We hope that all of our families remain well, and encourage you to reach out to your therapists for any additional support you may need, including strategy sessions, social stories or additional home practice. We are so looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

18.01.2022 On the brighter side of lockdown, we have access to many more online events. This one from Brisbane looks at ASD and anxiety. They offer you the chance to ask questions on the event page, that they will try to make sure to answer during the presentation.

17.01.2022 Michael, with a message from Village Therapy.

17.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of another Occupational Therapy Week! Occupational therapists fulfil a vital role in our community, helping people to reach their potential. This year OTs all around the world have been helping people as their daily routines, activities, and employment are disrupted. OT Australia's theme for this year is Resilience: Supporting our communities to rebuild, recover, and reengage. 14.01.2022 The Smiling Mind app has been a great mindfulness resource for many years. And now they have released this free digital pack for kids. 11.01.2022 It's not quite how we had planned to celebrate, but happy national Speech Pathology Week - from our homes to yours!

09.01.2022 The search is on. Are you our next superstar occupational therapist?

09.01.2022 Play is the primary occupation of children and healthy play sessions are required for children to develop a variety of skills. Play doesn't only improve creativity and imagination, it is key to developing gross and fine motor skills, and important social skills such as learning to take turns, cooperating, and getting along with others. This infographic illustrates the six types of play described by sociologist Mildred Parten. Paediatric OTs can assist your child to reach functional goals through play-based therapy. If you would like to know more, please contact us on 9811 7026, or email us at [email protected]

08.01.2022 Here’s a great idea for the glasses-wearers among us.

08.01.2022 We've had a great response to our June/July School Holiday program with well over half the spots filled. However, we wanted to give all our families the opportunity to participate. You'll find full details of the program on our website, as well as some information about how the program might help your child. Whilst the current phase of lockdown has made some parents uncertain about whether to participate or not, we want to assure you that we will give you a full refund if lockdown continues to include the dates your child is scheduled to attend. However, we are also developing an online group program, so that continued lockdown won't mean that our kids miss out. We are committed to working with you, to ensure that your child continues to thrive during the pandemic. https://villagetherapy.com.au/school-holiday-program/

08.01.2022 We were discussing how much we miss being able to see you all during our team meeting today, so here's a virtual hello! Hang in there folks and don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to support your family.

05.01.2022 Join our team of passionate clinicians to produce great outcomes for our clients and our community.

05.01.2022 In the recent past, we had been anticipating further decreases in the restrictions related to COVID-19. We had also started to tentatively book some clients whose goals cannot be met through online therapy, to work with our clinicians face-to-face in our new clinic from the beginning of Term 3. However, with the recent increase of infections, including in the Sunbury area, these plans are now on hold. We place a strong emphasis on the safety of our families and of our team me...mbers and need to weigh this into our decision-making process. We are currently reviewing our processes and procedures to see how we can safely offer face-to-face therapy. We will let you know further as we work through our decision-making process. If you currently have an appointment booked for a session in the clinic, we will be in touch closer to the time to confirm whether it is going ahead. We wish we had more definite information and appreciate your patience as we determine the best way forward. See more

03.01.2022 Does your child have trouble getting organised, finishing tasks, doing homework and remembering things? They might have trouble with Executive Functioning. Our wonderful OT Bonny has just passed on information about this FREE online 3-day event for parents. It's on NOW. 03.01.2022 Important words for our small people (and for us big people too!)

02.01.2022 Our school holiday program is back in the June / July holidays! After the success of this program in April, we've expanded and improved it, keeping the best bits and adding new activities. We're offering programs in both weeks of the holidays, with groups tailored for children of different ages. Follow the link below to find out more (including details of suitability for using your child's NDIS funding). https://villagetherapy.com.au/school-holiday-program/

01.01.2022 The question that OTs hear the most is, "What is Occupational Therapy?" In the OT community, your 'occupation' encompassess all of the daily activities of your life. It doesn't just mean your job! At Village Therapy we focus on paediatric OT, which means we can assist your child with self-care, school, and play. The infographic below contains some more specific examples and as always you can contact us on 9811 7026; or email us on [email protected].
