23.01.2022 Saturday 28 November is ‘Buy Nothing Day’. Before the onslaught of Christmas consumerism, it’s an opportunity to clear the decks of all the stuff we no longer use but which may spark joy for others. It's also a chance to share your time or information - something we do in libraries every day. Check out these fabulous, free photos photos from the City of Vincent Local History Collection: https://cityofvincent.imagegallery.me/

12.01.2022 TBR PILE This is Liz's selection ready to check out for a weekend in the bay window (or several). Miranda Hart always gladdens the soul, Hilary Mantel and Amy Tan for a history lesson and a reread of Neuromancer by William Gibson for classic sci-fi. The Mountain by Massimo Donati just looks interesting...

05.01.2022 DARK EMU In Dark Emu Bruce Pascoe puts forward an argument for a reconsideration of the hunter-gatherer tag for precolonial Aboriginal Australians. How well do we know the history of the original inhabitants of the continent on which we live? The evidence insists that Aboriginal people right across the continent were using domesticated plants, sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing-behaviours inconsistent with the hunter-gatherer tag that Aboriginal Australians have been labelled with. One of our most highly reserved books over the past couple of years, we have this important title available in our collection in both regular and large print editions, audio book and eBook formats, as well as the junior edition - Young Dark Emu.
