24.01.2022 Love our new sign on top of the Blacksmiths workshop it has been custom made up with a logo of my Great Grandfathers name Robert Clarke Bert he was a blacksmith and some of his tools are housed inside.

23.01.2022 ‘Gumnut Coach House’ the new and final addition to the property is coming along nicely, the beautiful hand carved name plate is almost ready to lay just a few more gum leaves to go !! Once again this new building is being solely built by Bob.

20.01.2022 Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe & happy holiday break and that you have been safe from these devastating fires We are back & ready for a big 2020 our busiest year by far! Keeping the property green has been challenging but Bob is winning the battle so far and the property is still looking lovely. hoping for some rain to fill the dam. ... We have started the year off with a bang & are straight back into it with several meetings today & many new emails followed up on. I have a busy weekend of meetings & property showings both this Saturday & Sunday (11th & 12th Jan) & I still have a few spaces free!! Contact me for details. Though Im sure the lawn will be mowed and watered a number of times again between now & then those of you who know the owner of the property Bob will know how particular he is, thank goodness we can irrigate from our dam to keep everything so green in this dry weather.

18.01.2022 The Vine Cottage Story! Vine Cottage was originally built in the 1840s, one of the first early homes built in the Castlereagh area, It was located along the Nepean River at a place known as birds eye corner. Built & owned by the Purcell family for many years it survived being submerged in 2 major oods and was eventually acquired by the Penrith quarry and used as an ofce from around the 1950s onwards .... In the late 1990s after the building had fallen into disrepair, suffering from rising damp, it was to be removed to make way for the 2000 Olympic Games. My Dad Bob Dennis (specialist in recycled building materials, supplying the heritage trade) was contacted to possibly have a use for some of the bricks, this was an opportunity to keep the history of this old building alive and he believed all the pieces should be kept together, so in a matter of days he dismantled the building brought it to his property on pallets & over the next 10 years he reconstructed Vine Cottage to its original format, salvaging all the material he could. He poured so much love, time and effort into bringing this piece of history back to life. It stands today as it did 180 years ago.

16.01.2022 Samantha & Steve 26/10/2019 This lovely couple were an absolute dream to work with from start to finish and it was a pleasure to get to know them & their family over the past year, their children really did them proud yesterday with their exceptional manners & amazing behaviour all day, My staff & I were blown away by them!! Sam & Steve & 50 guests enjoyed a garden ceremony, photos on the property followed by an afternoon tea consisting of a grazing table & drinks. We wish you & your family every happiness in the future and thank you for choosing Vine Cottage for your special day!

15.01.2022 In these unprecedented and uncertain times our business becomes a complicated one. We are still currently trading & working with our customers to achieve a lovely event in a safe & mindful manner. Under the current government restrictions (100 people maximum for indoors & 500 people maximum for outdoor events) our maximum capacity for any of our events is 60 guests. As many of you know we are a family owned & run business however this is also our family home, we treat your e...vents as if they were our own, so in return we ask the obvious, that anyone attending events who is sick, traveled overseas in the last 14 days, is in the high risk category or has compromised health to use your common sense & not to attend these coming events. Everyones health is our top priority. We will have extra measures in place to reduce any risk to our customers & staff, for example extra hand washing & sanitising stations, masks , gloves, following the social distancing guidelines & ect. We will be following the governments advise over the coming weeks & months but also ultimately putting the health of ourselves, our families & staff members first. We will work with all our bookings to make sensible and calculated decisions on what the best thing to do is with each individual event. If everyone works together, is respectful and responsible with their health and in turn the health of others. We can get through these uncharted waters together. Be sensible & be kind - Amy

12.01.2022 Rebecca & Connor 12/10/2019 This lovely young couple first came to Vine Cottage to book their wedding, 2 years ago they were to be married exactly a year ago, unfortunately they had a huge hurdle to overcome first, Connor was diagnosed with Leukaemia and their special day was put on hold while he underwent treatment. It was very touching to be a part of their day as they finally became husband & wife! On behalf of all of us at Vine Cottage we wish you every happinesses & ...good health for a long and loving marriage. Bec & Connor & 50 guests enjoyed a grazing table afternoon reception with us which followed their morning Church Ceremony. Despite the weather they were able to get photos on the property as well.

11.01.2022 TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY So I thought we might share some of our story! As many of you know Vine Cottage is part of my family home, over the past 43 years my parents (Bob & Carol) have turned this once vacant land into what it is today! What makes it even more special is that my Dad has built everything himself -YES I MEAN EVERYTHING- ... today he turns 70 ! ... On the 11.11.1977 my parents moved to Church Lane, Dad was 27 years old they had a caravan and a very big dream, this dream continued to evolve over the years & there was always a new idea & a new project happening. After 6 years in the caravan they moved into the half finished house (Mum finally had an inside toilet ) Dad worked 7 days a week.... 12 years & 3 kids later the inside of the house was completed in 1995. But this was only the 1st piece of the puzzle.. Dad was a demolisher back in the 80s and as a great lover of history he salvaged as many authentic early Australian building materials as he could - as a kid our front lawn was covered with pallets of bricks, sandstone & timber - he used these materials to create all the buildings that now stand on the property the main house - Munbilla, my grandparents cottage, the garage, the woodshed, the blacksmiths shop, 100m long sandstone fence & of course Vine Cottage. (Vine Cottage being the only building to be salvaged and rebuilt as a whole) Growing up it was the norm for us but as adults we can stand back and take in the magnitude of what he has achieved, his ability to turn his hand to almost every trade is second to none, the amount of hard work, determination, patience and perseverance that have gone into creating this masterpiece makes me so incredibly proud to call him my Dad. He is still creating & building everyday, he maintains the entire grounds himself & is currently working on one final puzzle piece to complete buildings, but Im sure the projects will never stop! People often say to him wow your lucky... but it isnt luck!! As he always replies the harder you work the luckier you get Happy Birthday Dad, heres to many many more, we couldnt be prouder!! 10.01.2022 Today has been full of emotions, speaking with customers, postponing & cancelling upcoming events trying to answer the unanswerable question of when will be safe to reschedule... we will work together on that one, but thank you to everyone I spoke to for your patients & rational thinking when making these disappointing decisions. (if I havent reached you yet, I will in the coming days.) Our little business has taken a very big hit as the coming months were set to be our bus...iest yet, however health and safety must come first if we are to get on top of this thing! We thank you all for your support & when we reach the other side we look forward to welcoming you all back to Vine Cottage. I will post updates of our ever evolving grounds as Bob (Dad) will no doubt continue to build and create new wonderful additions to property over the coming months. Thank you & stay safe -Amy

08.01.2022 SURPRISE Jemma & Luke 22.2.2020 50 of their closest family & friends arrived for Jemmas Birthday Party & an hour later after a quick costume change and a decoy group photo to occupy the guests while we did a quick ceremony set up, it became a SURPRISE WEDDING! So much fun! ... It was a pleasure to be a part of this special day for such lovely couple & their handsome boys. Thank you for choosing Vine Cottage for your special event! We wish you both a life time of happiness & all the very best for the future.

The positive & mature outlook from the couple & their guests of this much needed rain was so refreshing & made the the shuffle of Plan B much easier for everyone involved.
