22.01.2022 The Red Lion Hotel was first opened in 1847 and became the Nuriootpa Hotel in 1851. Since its current incantation as the Vine Inn Barossa Community Hotel, which it was titled in September 1937, it has seen many interesting challenges. Today, the hotel stands as one of the very few surviving Community Hotels in Australia. In 2019, the hotel won the National Australian Hotels Association Award as the best Community Hotel in Australia, so the tradition of caring and compassion ...Continue reading
22.01.2022 What CEO’s do in their down times....
18.01.2022 Sip’n’Save drive through bottleshop is open daily, where you can get beers, wines, spirits, ready-to-drinks and even snacks without leaving your car. We bring tap and pay to you. We have taken precautionary measures, in line with SA Health advice, to temporarily close our Vine Garden Bistro, as we must limit indoor gatherings to under 100 people. However, we are offering the fully Billy Jack’s Menu as a takeaway service and will keep you up-to-date with any other developments... as they occur. https://vineinn.com.au//08/Billy-Jacks-Menu-August-2019.pdf As a Community Owned Hotel, our Board wants to ensure are our business continues to operate as normally as possible, while looking after the safety of all our team members and guests. As such, we will be reviewing operations daily.
18.01.2022 DON’T HOLLER AT THE MARSHAL From 21 August 2020, the law states that we must have a COVID Marshal on duty at all times. Below is the direction from SA Health: Hospitality - Any business or activity providing food and/or beverages for on-site consumption to members of the public, including pubs and bars. Marshal's must take all reasonable action to ensure compliance. A COVID Marshal’s role is to ensure that their business or activity’s COVID-Safe Plan, COVID Management Plan... or their local COVID-19 prevention plans, policies or protocols are implemented as best as possible. A COVID Marshals duty is to ensure that all the correct measures contained in their business or activity’s COVID-Safe Plan, COVID Management Plan or other COVID policies or plans are indeed in place, that they are implemented as best as possible, and that he/she takes all reasonable action to ensure that all staff, patrons, contractors and other people on site follow these rules. The rules clearly state that, if you wish to consume either a drink or one of our fabulous meals, you need to be remain seated at a table. We remind all and sundry that we did not make these rules but we are legally obliged to comply. If we ask you to sit because you are eating or drinking, we are not doing this because we want to offend your sensitivities and understand all about your rights but if you refuse to sit or holler at the marshal, we will ask you to leave. If any party has an issue with the above and the actions of my team, I would be happy to direct them to SA Health’s site for clarification. Please come and enjoy your time with us and remember, we do not insist on you being seated while eating and drinking the law does. See more

15.01.2022 WE'RE BACK! As of today, we have been permitted to re-open, so Billy Jack's is trading again. We have been restricted to 74 guests plus staff in our venue. There are NO TAB, Keno or Gaming services allowed at this stage. There have been some stock shortages, but we have ordered what we can get so if you still can't get your favourite item, we hope to have everything back on-line by Friday. If you wish to come for a drink, you will be able to order your drink at the bar, but... you will need return to and remain at your allocated seat. The courtyard has been opened for smoking drinkers. With regard to dining, the same rules apply - you will need to see our host at the door, have your table allocated, place your orders for food and drinks at the bar and then return to your seat. I strongly recommend that if you would like to dine with us you ring 8562 2133 to establish if there are tables available. Seats are limited under regulatory advice. For all patrons, we are unable to offer you our hospitality for longer than 90 minutes and we ask that after this time, you move on and allow others to spend some time with us. We are limited to regulated set numbers in areas, so if we advise you that we do not have a seat available, please do not get annoyed at the staff. They are complying to Legislation and as there are $5,000 fines for every breach, we will be sticking to the rules like glue. If you have a problem with these new trading terms, come and see me and I be will more than happy to discuss any issue relating to the regulations with you. Welcome Back Cheers Chris Linden See more

For people waiting for takeaway, social distancing of 1.5 metres between themselves must be adhered to. ensure patrons are seated when being served the food and alcohol. 02.01.2022 Hello All, Well, another epic Vine Inn Charity Day has been run and won. The winning team came home with an unbelievable score of 54.38!! As they are our Auditors, I guess I have to believe what they tell me. ... This year we have eclipsed any past year’s results and raised an incredible $11,087 on the day. This result has only been made possible through the generosity of our donors. All who attended where suitably impressed with the amazing array of food, beverages and prizes and the course and if you contributed to the cause in any way, please accept my most sincere thanks. We know it has been a tough trading period recently which makes the amazing generosity of all our contributors even more special. To the 100 of you who came along and played, I hope you have all recovered relatively unscathed. I am sure there will be some who may have been a bit scratchy once the cold light of day settled upon them this morning. Next year we will be trying to make the event even bigger and better, so we look forward to seeing you all return for more punishment. This year we will be dispersing the funds raised to 3 specific charities; 1. The Social Justice Fund which benefits local kids from genuinely disadvantaged families with clothing, food, excursion fees and educational needs, 2. Youth Barossa which gives $500 grants to kids for educational needs, final driving lessons and other areas of need, and, 3. Foundation Barossa who is trying to raise $100,000 to build transportable pods which can house up to 4 kids on carers' properties, offering short term care for kids who are disconnected from their families. Unfortunately, we have kids as young as 8 years of age living on the streets and these pods will give them a chance to experience a little bit of life in a safe and caring environment. In all instances, 100% of the funds allocated go direct to kids in need in our local Community there are no Admin fees attached to any of the donations. These opportunities for us to assist our Community do not exist without the support of good people like yourselves, both donors and participants alike and I thank you all for being involved. A special thanks also to my team members who worked hard as ever, both leading up to the event and on the day. I look forward to making contact with you all next year so we can do it all again! Cheers, Chris Linden Chief Executive Officer Vine Inn Barossa Community Hotel Vine Court Barossa
02.01.2022 Hello Members and Friends, Last night drastic new measures were released by the Federal Government to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Non-essential in-door venues are now required to close effective immediately, with restaurants and cafes restricted to takeaway services only and licensed outlets within these establishments have been required to close.... Naturally, we have complied with these new restrictions but we have working to ensure that we still offer our locals whatever services we are able to. From today, all internal services of the Vine Inn have been closed but we are still able to open our drive through bottle shop and will do so until advised otherwise. It would be our preference that you stay in your vehicle to be served and our staff will make every effort to serve you with their normal high level of efficiency. We would also prefer that you conduct your transactions with a card but we will still accept cash. You can be assured that all of our team members will continue to wear protective gloves and have been instructed to use provided antibacterial lotion after every transaction. We have compiled a restricted takeaway menu which will take full effect as of tomorrow (Tuesday 24th March, 2020). We will have this menu available for takeaway meals from 11.30am all the way through to 8.00pm, 7 days. Despite the Barossa rumour mill running rife with claims that the Americans visited the Vine Inn, this is not the case, and to date, we are not aware of any contagion being experienced by any our regular customer group or staff. This hotel has been here for a very long time - 173 years in fact, we are in a solvent position and we will see the current disaster through to its completion. I implore you all to stay safe and look forward to welcoming you back to our beloved Vine Inn once this is all over. Cheers, Chris Linden CEO NEW TAKEAWAY MENU - MARCH 2020 https://vineinn.com.au/takeaway
01.01.2022 So - here's the state of play as we know it today. We are still restricted to 100 people across the entire venue so the Bistro will remain closed and we will continue to offer meals in Billy Jack's only until advised otherwise. Our bar is open, as is our gaming room, bottle shop and accommodation and it is great to see so many still coming to us and supporting their Community Hotel. Even though we are on a reduced revenue, we still give what you spend back to you - our Community. We believe there will be some amendments to the current situation announced on Friday and we will maintain compliance and modify the business to suit, whatever happens. We will update you further when we know what we are allowed to do. Stay safe. Cheers, Chris Linden
01.01.2022 Unfortunately the Vine Inn is back in Covid mode again. With the latest restrictions, we are required to operate with the 4 metre rule back in place. This means that we are only allowed 20 people in Billy Jack's dining, 20 in the Bar, 20 in the Courtyard, 12 in Billy Jack's entry area and 10 in our Gaming Room. All up, we are allowed 100 people in the total venue so it means we have had to shut our Bistro again. That's the bad stuff! What we CAN do is continue to offer the... Barossa's coldest beverages from our fabulous Drive Through so pop on through and let Michael and his team look after you. We will also be continuing to offer take away meals for lunch and dinner so give us a call on 8562 2133 to place your order. We are hopeful that this latest wave will be short term and look forward to trying to get business back to normal in the very near future. If there's anything you need from us or if you need clarification on any matter, feel free to ring one of our friendly Reception team on 8562 2133 and we will do our best to answer your queries. Wash your hands, keep your distance and stay safe. Cheers, Chris Linden See more
01.01.2022 Team bonding! This is how we do team hugs Covostyle here at the fabulous Vine Inn.
01.01.2022 From Friday, 5 June: All licences including hotels etc. will be able to open with the exception of gaming rooms. The Government is yet to determine the number and nature of patronage allowed but it is likely to be 20 max per distinct area. A distinct area would be an alfresco/beer garden, a dining room, lounge or a bar. However, alcohol will only be available with the consumption of food while seated at a table. In a nutshell, there is no viability in us opening under these p...arameters. While we are a Community Hotel and understand the importance of doing our best to service our Community, we are still compelled to trade in a profitable manner and these "relaxations" do not give us that opportunity. It appears that we will be compelled to have to wait until July when restrictions may be relaxed to a level where we could trade in an equitable manner. We will continue to offer takeaway meals and Bottle Shop service and I thank all of you who have been so patient and have supported us through this tough time. Looking forward to the time when I can catch up with you all for an icy cold beer once we can re-open for normal service. Cheers, Chris Linden
