25.01.2022 "The raise to the rate means that I can afford my rent, afford to eat and afford to pay my bills, but only for the next six months. It means I can live in the most basic meaning of the word itself. It does not help me with facing any of the other realities of being a full-time, unemployed student, or even a human being" Vinnies will continue to put pressure on the current government to #raisetherate beyond this pandemic. https://www.theguardian.com//it-will-change-my-life-entire
24.01.2022 It's Buy Nothing New Month! This month, instead of scrolling online for your next outfit, why not upcycle some once-loved items? There are so many ways you can ...reduce waste + look great: Tie dye your old t-shirts Turn your t-shirt into a singlet Chop your dress into a skirt and mix & match If restrictions permit, you can also head to your local Vinnies Shop to find some goodies! 22.01.2022 The coronavirus crisis continues to bring out the best in many and we believe compassion and kindness will carry us through this challenging time. As we check o...ff our groceries and shopping this weekend, lets also fill our homes, neighbourhoods and towns with these values and more. Share photos of your acts of kindness or tell us how you will be stocking up on these values this weekend in the comments below. We will get through these difficult times together. @designsbyjesmine

19.01.2022 We need your help now more than ever. With recent bushfires, and now pressure on our economy, the demand for Vinnies services will become more urgent as the current health crisis evolves. Without you, we wont be able to continue to meet the daily needs of the most vulnerable in our communities. Many of our dedicated network of volunteers are at a higher risk for COVID-19 therefore Vinnies is seeing a reduction in volunteer numbers due to self-isolation advice for this group.... If you are healthy and not in a high risk group, or living with someone who is, just a little bit of your time can help keep our shops and services operating, so we can continue to raise critical funds and help those who need it most which has always been at the heart of what we do. Your generosity of spirit in the community and your support can help us to continue to respond to the situation. Help us keep helping others and register at the link below to volunteer whatever time you can https://bit.ly/2Uwuyvs
19.01.2022 On 27th March Pope Francis offered an extraordinary blessing to the world and said: "It is the life in the Spirit that can redeem, value and demonstrate how our lives are woven together and sustained by ordinary people ... who without any doubt are in these very days writing the decisive events of our time: doctors, nurses, supermarket employees, cleaners, caregivers, providers of transport, law and order forces, volunteers, priests, religious men and women and so very many o...thers who have understood that no one reaches salvation by themselves. In the face of so much suffering, where the authentic development of our peoples is assessed, we experience the priestly prayer of Jesus: That they may all be one (Jn 17:21). How many people every day are exercising patience and offering hope, taking care to sow not panic but a shared responsibility? How many fathers, mothers, grandparents and teachers are showing our children, in small everyday gestures, how to face up to and navigate a crisis by adjusting their routines, lifting their gaze and fostering prayer? ....Prayer and quiet service: these are our victorious weapons" #wereallinthistogether #onesociety #faithinaction #vinniesnsw to read the full transcript or watch visit https://bit.ly/39EHfK8
18.01.2022 This years July Vinnies Youth Kids Camp coincided with National NAIDOC week. During our time together we discussed what NAIDOC week is about and shared our knowledge about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. We then created scratch boomerangs and did some indigenous colouring in.... It was great to see how much knowledge the kids had to share with both us and their peers! #NAIDOCweek #NAIDOC2019 #mnvinniesyouth #julykidscamp #volunteering
17.01.2022 As youre busy getting all the supplies you need to go back to school, uni or start that new job read over this excellent story of students from St Dominics Centre Mayfield shining brilliantly in 2019. Their Principal Veronica McLoughlin had these words of encouragement that will hopefully help you on your path in 2020: "To all our students: create the vision, walk to the beat of your own drum, stay connected to the village that loves you and continue to have the courage to become the best version of yourself you can be."

14.01.2022 Friends and families asking what you want for your birthday but youre actually content with your lot? The act of giving to someone we care for brings us happiness (and some people insist on getting you something, right?). Simons birthday fundraiser is an excellent example of how we can use social networking for good to share that happiness. After all Fred Ozanam did say he wanted to embrace the world in a network of charity, maybe this is what he meant!
