25.01.2022 We had this question sent to us. Can anyone help? I have a little speedcar project myself and need some help to get it on the track. I was wondering if anyone can tell me who sells vintage midget dirt speedway tyres. The size I'm after is 4.00x12 fronts and 500x12 rears firestone. Is there a seller for those in Australia new or used?

25.01.2022 So, let’s try plan B! Our event at Nepean Raceway has been postponed. The track has suffered water damage from recent rainfall. The club there need time to repair the damage and make the track safe. The revised date is now scheduled for Sunday 13th December.... If you know of someone who intended going on the original date please make them aware of the alteration. See more

24.01.2022 Well done to the NSW Vintage Speedcar crew and the drivers for a great day! Was a privilege to be able to shoot these cars for the first time

24.01.2022 Charlie Vella has advised that Mary-Rose has received successful surgery and is resting in her room. Apparently her foot was in extremely bad condition so I can only imagine how much discomfort she was in whilst manoeuvring that quad during our club track events. I never heard her complaining at all! She will now be in recovery mode for about three months, but insists she will be at Illabo in March! She has asked to thank everyone for the kind messages.... Let’s all hope Charlie can steer a vacuum cleaner and a dishwasher Get well soon Mary-Rose. See more

23.01.2022 New Exemption out for NSW Speedway Tracks for Dec only, upgraded to 1000 persons but we will be sticking to the current 500 limit so drivers can still interact with their families in the spectator area.

23.01.2022 Checkout the revised regulations.

21.01.2022 Our AGM was held last night, 29th September 2020. The committee is basically unchanged, which displays our members have confidence in the people involved, and it provided good stability for another term. Thank you to all who have again put their hands up to steer the ship. Let’s get back to some sort of normal and have some fun again. The committee is -... President, Kevin Gilkison. Vice President- John Campbell. Secretary- Rhonda Gilkison. Treasurer - Greg Wells. Events Director- Al Mace. Assistant Events Director- Charlie Vella. Historian - Greg Mann. Assistant Historian - Ray Dean. Technical Committee- Bill Wells, Bob Lewis, Alan Day, Bob Blacklaw. Events Committee- Margaret Wells, Mary-Rose Vella, Leanne Middlemass, Nicole Fullager, Keith Nicholls. Regalia Officer - Rhonda Gilkison. Newsletter Editor - Keith Nicholls. 21.01.2022 The funeral service for David Johnsen will be held at 10:00am on Thursday 31st December 2020. Due to the small chapel capacity at Olsen’s Funerals Sutherland, attendees will limited to 20 family and close friends. Those persons have already been identified, so unfortunately most of us will not be able to attend. Details for a streaming of the service will be advised soon. As the service is being held on New Years Eve, I suggest we all make time to have a memorial toast to our good club member and friend, David Johnsen. R.I.P.

20.01.2022 Today a working bee was held at Nepean Raceway in preparation for our meeting there on 13th December. We pulled up stumps early due to the high temperature - 45 degrees at Castlereagh when I left. The complex is coming up nicely and will be very presentable by the time we demonstrate there. A bit more work to be done yet. Thank you so much to our club members who put in some time and showed some sweat. Charles Vella got his hands dirty and walked the track a dozen times so he... has no excuse for not being on the pace. Cyril Robinson and Terry Young were also busy there before heading off to Cullen Bullen. And Pat Heaton gave us a hand to smarten our pit area up. Thanks guys! See more

18.01.2022 A reminder that our general meeting is on tomorrow night (Monday) in the usual smaller hall at Ermington, 8:00pm.

17.01.2022 The VSANSW committee has today made the unfortunate decision to cancel the 2020 Combined Vintage Speedway Club annual picnic day. This decision was influenced by uncertainty relating to Covid-19 restrictions. It would be rather difficult to enforce safe distancing regulations with the expected number of club members and public mingling together, and the need to regularly cleanse toilet facilities. We are disappointed to cancel any event, and the cancellations are getting too ...many, but we need to be responsible in the existing uncertain conditions. Hopefully we can reignite this annual gathering in 2021 and maybe try a new venue. Keep safe and well. See more

16.01.2022 Yet another cancellation for our static displays unfortunately.

14.01.2022 With scheduled regional events looming, Speedway Australia has today recommended that clubs follow NSW Health guidelines in relation to travel to NSW regional areas. This means that travel to Tamworth’s practice day on Sunday 4th October is at this stage on hold. The existing NSW Health travel restrictions are effective to 30th September (this month). Speedway Australia are expecting the restrictions to be eased after this month but cannot provide any update until advice is received from NSW Health. As soon as we can provide a definite update for post September we will place notification on this page.

13.01.2022 Friends of David Johnsen will be able to live stream his funeral on Thursday December 31st at 10am by clicking on the link below.

13.01.2022 Some great footage!

12.01.2022 I have been advised by HSAA that planning is well underway for a vintage speedway festival at Boonah Showground. This is aimed at reviving the old EKKA reunions. The event will be take place over one week, commencing Saturday 4th September 2021 and finishing under lights on Saturday 11th September with fireworks, bands, dancing, and a big gala finale. VSANSW members are invited to this event. More details to come shortly.

11.01.2022 Our AGM is ON! NOTE THE CHANGE! Tuesday 29th September in the larger room of the Ermington Hall. 8:00pm sharp. COVID-19 policies will be in force.... 10.01.2022 Very sad to have to advise that we have lost another friend, and a member who was an asset to our club. Former club secretary Graham Krempin passed away on Tuesday of this week. Our deepest sympathy goes to Roslyn and all of Graham’s family. A farewell is being held on Wednesday 27th January, commenting from 1:30pm, at Macquarie Park Crematorium (Camellia Chapel). Masks are required at the chapel. There will be a gathering afterwards at Pennant Hills Bowling Club, 52 Yarrara ...Road Pennant Hills. Due to COVID Restrictions, if you wish to attend the chapel and/or the bowling club, can you please email Roslyn at [email protected] or sms to 0411 961 300. Anyone who cannot attend can watch the live stream. Send your email address to Roslyn. R.I.P. Graham. See more

08.01.2022 Speedway Australia has invited our club to participate in a track day at Nepean Raceway on Sunday 22nd November, commencing at 10am and running until 4pm. This will be an evaluation day with the aim being for us to have regular runs there. The East Coast Kart Club will be racing on this day and have distributed a poster which includes Vintage Speedcars demonstrating. The track is a nice 390 metre dirt surface. Canteen facilities will be available.... If you wish to have a run contact myself so that we can organise numbers for the runs. You WILL need a current Speedway Australia licence and safety apparel which conforms to SA regulations. Your gear may be checked on the day. See more

07.01.2022 VALVOLINE RACEWAY SEASON UPDATE Official Release: Valvoline Raceway Tuesday, September 22... We are all living in uncertain times at the moment and trying to manage our recreations in an ever-increasing changing environment of Covid-19 rules, restrictions and regulations. All sports and venues are bound by any number of varying restrictions as to how they can operate their activities depending on criteria under the COVID Industry Safety Plan. Valvoline Raceway is no different to any other venue and is governed by the Community Sport Public Health Order updated on the 28th July, found on the NSW Government Office of Sport's Coronavirus update site. Whilst Barry and Felicity are committed to have racing commence this season given the emotion around it being the last season of the venue's operation, the current restrictions under the order make it financially unviable to operate. Border closures, regional restrictions, participant number restrictions, medical personnel, all play a part of allowing competitors, spectators, volunteers and staff to be part of a race meeting. Whilst restrictions are being constantly reviewed so will the season for Valvoline Raceway. Given the current restrictions it is expected at this stage racing would not commence until restrictions are greatly reduced which is estimated would not be until Jan 2021. Therefore, the season will be postponed at this stage until then with a review in November as previously mentioned. Should restrictions be relaxed prior to this date an immediate review will take place with plenty of notice given to everyone prior to going racing, which will also allow the sourcing of necessary personnel ie. medical. How the season will look once started will be part of the review, and all clubs will be involved in the process and once finalised - a new calendar will be released for public knowledge. To get the venue up and running takes time, and a number of external suppliers and operators along with race teams, volunteers, race divisions and staff all need sufficient notice to be ready. It is expected that once a start date is imminent, then a couple of practice days prior would be scheduled and then the racing would commence. Whilst management know it is frustrating for all involved, please understand that it is the intention of all involved with Valvoline Raceway to have the season get started and continue until the final ever meeting at the venue. Once we get racing, things may look completely different to what we are used to, however once it can be done safely and viably the season will get under way. In the meantime, please stay safe and watch for the November update when hopefully a clearer view on when we can get back to what we all love will be closer. 05.01.2022 Lest we forget.

04.01.2022 The latest update.

04.01.2022 No roundy roundies for The Gis!

04.01.2022 That’s my sort of 6 litre!

03.01.2022 Wishing all of our members and Speedway friends a Happy New Year. Let’s hope 2021 is a lot kinder to us and we all stay safe and keep well. 2020 was pretty ordinary but all you get from looking back is a sore neck. So let’s focus on better times ahead.

03.01.2022 Some great news finally. This looks positive for our Tamworth and Illabo runs.

03.01.2022 Don't forget practice is on 10th Oct. $100 per car. No limit on pitcrew numbers. Ambulance in attendance. 2pm to 9pm. . Nominate with your club now. Need numbers by the 1st Oct.

02.01.2022 Please be aware that due to the Bathurst 1000 being rescheduled a week later than originally planned (now on Sunday 18th October), the next Illabo Vintage event has also been moved to a week later than scheduled. Illabo will now be held on Saturday 24th October. This is obviously on watch due to COVID-19 restrictions, so please confirm it is still a goer before you hit the road. Fingers crossed everyone!

02.01.2022 By all reports the practice day at Oakburn Park Tamworth yesterday was a great success. Plenty of track time and a well prepared track. I am also informed that the track promoters looked after our members very well. Let’s make the effort to get more cars there next time. Looks like the next date is 14th November (night event) but that’s to be confirmed.
