22.01.2022 Overseas Retreat Hawaii Retreat Being Aware, Being Wise.... Vipassana Meditation and the Eightfold Path A Seven-Day Retreat with Grahame White July 24-31, 2020 The Buddha's most explicit path of practice to come out of suffering is the Eightfold Path. This is a set of eight practical approaches that bring Buddhist practice into the width and depth of our lives. In this seven-day course we will explore this Eightfold Path in relationship to Vipassana Meditation. We will discover that practising Vipassana is really living the Eightfold Path. This retreat will be structured to suit beginners as well as seasoned meditators with an interest in exploring their own mind and body processes. Each day will consist of sitting and walking meditation as well as nightly talks and daily guidance interviews. An afternoon mindful yoga period will be offered on this retreat. All are welcome. 17.01.2022 Dear Friends, I am writing to advise you that like many other organisations, I have decided to cancel all Vipassana Illawarra events for this half of the year. In view of the current situation, and the spread of COVID-19, this seems like the right advise to follow. The health and safety of everyone is of utmost importance.... The cancellations which will start from today, include: Sunday community sittings at Thirroul Library for the next 3 months (with a possible extension) The April 4-week course at Corrimal Library June 15th daylong at the Stanwell Tops Conference Centre Perth 7-day retreat in May As yet the Hawaii retreat, in July, has not been cancelled but there is a good chance it may be. As meditators, this period of uncertainty is an ideal time to put into practice what we have learnt from our Vipassana practice in regard to understanding the nature of change - nothing is stable as we would like it to be, everything changes. Even though there are no courses we can use this uncertain period to cultivate our practice of loving kindness, patience, generosity and tolerance towards others in this difficult time. Especially we can develop our equanimity to situations we find ourselves in. My advise is to "SIT EVERYDAY", practice mindfulness in all situations and be happy. I am always available if you wish to shoot me an email with any practice questions. When the current situation improves I will send out a newsletter with updated event details. For now, be well, happy, safe and peaceful. All the best, Grahame
