25.01.2022 Here is a wonderful idea to make our less than sunny spring a bit more enjoyable and still be active outdoors

23.01.2022 MAKING OF A TREE One of our Educators has recognised the impact the current restriction has had on her families so she began facilitating weekly Zoom group time sessions between the children attending care and the children who cannot attend. The intention is to ensure all of the children can continue to stay connected and engaged with their care environment and one another. One of the attending children noticed that the bark on her nature strip’s tree is peeling. After a ...conversation around why it is peeling, they decided they will collect the bark and integrate the natural resources into their next Zoom session, they also consciously collected recycled materials for the rest of the resources to ensure a sustainable practise. During the process they found a ladybug had resided on one of the leaves, so after discussing the importance of caring of all living things they returned it to the garden and opted to create their own ladybug from paper. There are many important decisions that were made around their impact on the world in which they live. But the most meaningful one is that ALL the children were included in collecting bark/recycled materials and in the invaluable group learning discussion whether remotely or within in the care environment. #sustainibility #caringforlivingthings #inclusiveeducation #natureplay See more

15.01.2022 As of tomorrow we get to welcome back all of our wonderful children and families. It might seem a little daunting but the educators have been looking forward to the day they get to see all of the children in their care again. Finally, the well-being of all children, families and educators remains the most important priority so please be rest assured all hygiene practices are still in place and we acknowledge that there may be still some hesitations in returning to care but we hope to continue to support this transition.

13.01.2022 Combining different resources and frozen blocks of ice to a tray can create many opportunities for investigative and imaginary learning.

13.01.2022 It's almost NAIDOC week. Did you know the Wathaurung, Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nation were the traditional Owners of the lands on which Wyndham City is being built. Here is an activity the children may enjoy doing - this is a great opportunity to talk to the children about what the symbols in Aboriginal art mean, there is a link to these meanings in the comments

10.01.2022 Some of the children have been busy building a bug hotel. They have repurposed an old dolls house and collected up natural materials from the garden that specifically attract bugs. Bug hotels are a great learning experience for children, throughout the process they are given the opportunity to be involved in and learn about their natural environment, life cycles, caring for other living things and construction.

10.01.2022 We hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas

09.01.2022 Screen Time for children: How Much Is Too Much? Preschoolers ages 2 to 5 should have no more than 1 hour of screen time each day. The exception to this rule is video chatting with grandparents or other family friends, which is considered quality time interacting with others. ... Not all screen time is created equal. For example, you and your child playing an interactive phonics or numbers game on a tablet or watching high-quality educational programming together is good screen time. Keeping the TV on all day for "background noise" or letting your preschooler watch your favorite shows with you are examples of bad screen time. Use screen time as a chance to interact with your child and teach lessons about the world. Don't let your child spend time alone just staring at a screen.

06.01.2022 This is a simple and effective way to help children learn how to identify shapes. The activity is to hold the shapes up to different objects around the home to see which one it matches too. This activity supports the inquiry based learning approach, where in the children engage in investigation and problem-solving.

04.01.2022 These children have been working on creating their own fairy garden using real succulents. A lot of care and thought was taken to build the perfect home for both the plants and fairies. This experience provides opportunities for children to utilise Natural resources in their play and learn how to care for living things.
