We get called in to tidy up a lot of tenant-done bond cleans and this is something we see quite a lot. It's an easy fix though; dust falls so start from the top and work your way down. 02.01.2022 Just moved into a new rental? Focus on the Entry Report. It is worth its weight in gold at the end of your lease. We keep hearing the same story from our bond clean clients 'the house was a mess when we moved in...but we didn't make notes on the Entry Report and now we have to fix it up'. Your Property Manager looks after a lot of rentals and no, they won't remember what the house looked like before you moved in. They take their cue from the Entry Report. And if you have...n't noted EVERYTHING on that report, they will assume the damage/mess has been done by you. Never assume that the Entry Report will be accurate. For example, the Entry Report for our current house was missing an entire bedroom and had a photo of a different letterbox... Here's how to nail the Entry Report: Walk through the whole house and make notes against what has been written by your Real Estate on the Entry Report. Check each area from different angles with plenty of light so it's easier to spot issues. Take photos of any damage or anything that's unclean. Use your hand to establish scale for damaged areas. Turn on every light including heat lamps, rangehood and oven to check the bulbs. If they're blown, make a note of that. Flush the toilets and check all taps for leaks. Check security screens for holes. Check blinds have all weights & connectors. Take a walk around the property and make note of any damage to grass, gates, rubbish left behind etc. Make a copy of your report before returning it to the Real Estate so you're good to go come move out day.
