Ornamental Pears have been an incredibly popular choice of tree throughout Australia for many years and we are incredibly excited to now have in stock the Miniature form of Capital Ornamental Pear. The Mini Capital is an attractive, upright and narrow Ornamental Pear Tree producing stunning white Spring blossom, followed by glossy, deep green foliage throughout Spring and Summer and then in late Autumn spectacular colours of claret..., orange and yellow, before shedding their leaves in Winter. Ideally suited for avenues or screening in narrow garden beds. 19.01.2022 Advanced Fig Trees are in stock now - Black Genoas and White Genoas available in 300mm pots, some with figs already on them. Fig trees are incredibly easy to grow, they do best in full sun and will tolerate most soil types. They have a rather invasive root system so best planted some distance from your home, paths or paving. They also will grow very well in pots or large containers, ensure you use a premium potting mix, water regularly and fertilise in Spring & Autumn for best results.

14.01.2022 Photinia 'Red Robin' is a very hardy evergreen shrub most commonly used to form a thick hedge or screen. It's new growth is a deep dark red, then turns to a dark green as it matures. White flower heads are produced in late Spring. It is a very popular screening shrub and is also ideal as a windbreak or a topiary specimen. Thrives in a wide range of sites, but prefers a sunny, open position with well drained soil and once established is very heat and drought tolerant, also copes well with frost. To create a tight hedge of around 6 foot tall, plant at 1 metre spacings (if a shorter hedge is required then plant a little tighter) and trim regularly to encourage fresh new growth. 09.01.2022 Advanced Avocado trees are back in stock and they are huge and 20% off today 3pm-9pm. Who doesn't love the amazing avocado, and with a little care these amazing fruits can be grown successfully in Adelaide. They will thrive in a warm, frost-free position and good drainage is critical. Avocado's despise 'wet feet', so improve drainage if you have heavy clay soil with gypsum and compost prior to planting or consider planting your avocado tree on a slope or small mound. While... establishing it is a good idea to offer the developing tree a little protection from the intense summer sun and hot winds, this can be easily achieved if you can set up a climate shelter or 'hoochi', where three stakes are placed around the tree and covered with shade cloth to protect the tree for the first year or two, once established this can be removed. 03.01.2022 TIME TO SPRAY Late winter is time to spray stone fruit trees to prevent leaf curl and other fungal problems in a range of fruit trees including peaches, nectarines & apricots. Leaf curl is a very common fungal problem which causes leaves to develop pink blisters and become twisted and contorted. This effects the tree's ability to photosynthesise and produce quality fruit.... Fungal spores sit over-winter in nooks and crannies of the tree's bark and dormant buds. If untreated, when new spring growth begins it becomes re-infected with the fungus and the problem continues. The treatment is simple; susceptible trees should be thoroughly sprayed with a copper oxychloride solution at bud-swell (the point between when the tree is dormant and when the buds burst into flower). One thorough spray just before the blossoms emerge will in most cases stop your tree from getting leaf curl for the upcoming season.

01.01.2022 Mango Trees Available Now With a little bit of care mango trees can successfully be grown in Adelaide. Mangoes do best when planted in a bright sunny position in a well drained spot with lots of organic matter dug through the soil. Protection from frost while the trees are young is essential and protection from hot northerly winds is also suggested. To really get them off to a great start, young trees should be protected with 50% shade cloth above and around the tree, this will not only moderate the temperature but will also offer protection from hot winds.
