24.01.2022 Tomorrow we enter fire danger season.

24.01.2022 South Australia's Fire Danger Season concludes for all remaining Fire Danger Districts at midnight tonight. Although South Australia did not face as many large-...scale bushfires as the previous years our volunteers were still very busy. Our volunteers respond each and every day to bushfires, house fires, vehicle accidents and a variety of other emergencies. As conditions around the usage of fire and hot tools ease after midnight, caution should be exercised before considering any burning or risky activities. Saturday is going to be a particularly warm and windy day. For residents in bushfire-prone areas, autumn and winter are a good opportunity to prune and clean-up around houses and sheds. Country Fire Service responses during the 2020-2021 Fire Danger Season (1 November 2020 - 29 April 2021): Bushfires: 1,212 Vehicle accidents: 1,110 Building fires: 156 Hazmat incidents: 80

19.01.2022 Playford Council BURNING SEASON A friendly reminder to all Virginia and surrounding suburb residents, this area is a rural area and therefore safe burning around the community is to be expected. It is however very important to make sure you are aware of your obligations and responsibilities prior to burning. Check with the Playford Council as they are the legislated body responsible for compliance monitoring. ... https://www.playford.sa.gov.au//environment-an/fire-safety There are hefty fines and penalties for people doing the wrong thing. Residents that have concerns about smoke plumes or concerns residents are doing the wrong thing are asked to gather as much information as possible(where they feel safe to do so) to determine if there is a threat to life or property. As this is a part of the non fire danger season the CFS are NOT required at all fires, the CFS should only be called where there is a threat to life or property. Suspicion of Illegal burning should be reported to the Playford council for investigation and penalties/ fines imposed. To contact the Playford council call 8256 0333 (use this number for business hours and after hours queries)

13.01.2022 Virginia trucks ready to roll soon to be coasting around Virginia grove. Come say hello to the crews and see what it takes to become a member with the brigade or if you have kids and would like to check the truck out feel free! Hope to see you soon!

11.01.2022 This morning crews were alerted to a haystack fully involved at 4:00AM. Haystack fires are strenuous and long lasting incidents as the use of water on them can smother the fire and re ignite once the water has dried. The only way to extinguish the fires are either to let them burn out or pull it apart to floor level and mop up. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and we would like the community to keep an eye out on suspicious activity happening in the area but also make sure when bailing hay you do it at the right temperatures.

02.01.2022 If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe. You should try to ge...t back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at the location etc.) and follow instructions. You must also advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan and consider adding additional face masks, hand sanitiser, and antibacterial wipes to your ‘Emergency Kit’ to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. Follow the SA Country Fire Service for emergency warnings and further advice.
