25.01.2022 Handy way to keep insulin cool

25.01.2022 Hello to my awesome patients who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This video enlightens us on what is type 1 diabetes?

25.01.2022 New PBS listing from 1st April for Diabetes treatment regimens: From 1 April, doctors will be able to prescribe empagliflozin/linagliptin (Glyxambi) and dapagliflozin/saxagliptin (Qtern). Each drug combines the actions of a DPP-4 inhibitor and an SGLT-2 inhibitor, which when used in conjunction with metformin is likely to improve glucose control and patient compliance, and reduce side effects, says Professor Marck Cooper, head of the department of diabetes at Monash... University. "The ability to give DPP4 and the SGLT-2 together is a big advance, because we will achieve better glucose control in a very rational, logical way," he says

16.01.2022 Toujeo Update: Hello everyone, From the 1st of April 2018 Toujeo (insulin Glargine 300 units/ml ) will be available via the PBS. Patients who are on the Lantus Solorstar who are on high doses per injection>50 units can be changed over to Toujeo dose for dose however the actual dose equivalent in Toujeo the liquid volume will be a lot less. Eg lantus solarstar 100 units per 1 ml ( insulin glargine)... Toujeo is 300 units per 1 ml (insulin glargine) If patient is on 50 units with Lantus the actual liquid volume injected is 0.5 ml. changing them over the pens are already calibrated to be used as a dose for dose conversion. But the volume of the dose to be injected is only 0.16 ml which is a big difference. It's still important for the patient to inject at a similar time everyday. For Lantus that time frame is +/-1 hour from the patients normal dosing time while for Toujeo they have a bigger dosing window of +/- 3 hours from the normal injection time. The insulin profile for Toujeo lasts for 30 hours as opposed to Lantus approx 24 hrs. Toujeo will be marketed for both type one and type two. See more

15.01.2022 Hypoglycaemia is a top concern with people on insulin injections, this is a fun way to get the message across on managing low blood glucose levels.
