21.01.2022 Are you ready to sweat? Running a business is hard. REALLY hard. Sorry to be so brutal, but it's best not to be under any pretences before attempting to start your own business, no matter what it is. But is it worth it? Yes. A Resounding YES!... When I posted my first Gumtree ad for Resume Services, I was pleasantly surprised to get a response in just 1 day! I thought, 'Wow, I'm on to something! This is easy!' What I didn't realise was that delivering a new resume in 48 hours and only charging $50 for an editable version was literally pouring in my sweaty tears with little to show for it at the end! No wonder I got requests (*face palm*). After doing some research, I adjusted my service offering and then hid under a rock. I was terrified of the work required to make a business viable. Creating a website, spending on advertising, choosing a social media platform to post on, getting my head around post consistency... I was just too overwhelmed and too good at procrastinating to give it a real go! Thankfully for me, my husband is an entrepreneur and managed to coax me out from under my rock. I'm personally still building my confidence and motivation to make my business work, but I'm getting there. It's slow going. The point of this is - I want you to be totally aware of what you're really getting yourself into. It's not an easy ride, it's blood, sweat and tears. And so much time. But again, it is worth it. If you can stick it out, ride through the tough start and really build your brand, you will succeed. It may take 6 months, or it may take 2 years. It's not for everyone, but it is worth a try. Where are you in your business journey? Share your toughest moments with us below.

14.01.2022 I was going to write my own post on this subject, but after finding a blog post from the author who inspired this - I'll just share what he has to say. Please take the time to read his post, and if you can, invest in his book. Gary Vaynerchuk has a lot of valuable content and really lives what he promotes. https://www.garyvaynerchuk.com/the-one-thing-i-didnt-clari/... Let us know what you think in the comments!

12.01.2022 Ever wondered what a VA is, or have the impression a VA simply answers phone calls and checks emails? This simple article will help you gain a broader understanding of how a VA could benefit your business and how to find the right one.

10.01.2022 I saw this on another page recently, and thought it was brilliant advice regarding posting on your social media platforms. SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING We all know the age-old bridal prep saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." ... Thanks to it's popularity, this one is easy to remember and implement. I'll get straight to the explanation: Something Old - Repost an old blog post or project and reminisce to your audience Something New - Post a new blog post or project Something Borrowed - Feature someone else's work that you appreciate and share with your audience why it resonates with you Something Blue - Share a personal story to help your audience connect with you. You don't have to share intimate details of your life, but simply let your audience know you are human too - whether it's a funny story, a difficult moment, something you've learnt or your favourite book. That personal connection will help create loyalty and trust from your audience. It's up to you how often you post. The importance is consistency (DON'T follow my bad example of disappearing for months at a time! Sorry everyone...). Consistency ensures your brand and/ or product comes to mind first when your audience is thinking about spending money. Whether it's daily, weekly or monthly, decide what you are able to commit to and stick to it. Have you received a valuable piece of advice recently? Perhaps you'd like to share with us? Drop it in the comments below :) Have a beautiful day <3

09.01.2022 One of the exciting parts of starting your own business (well, I think it's exciting!) is picking your new business name! I know it can be a tricky decision - knowing whether to simply use your name, or keep your personal anonymity and come up with a creative name. This is absolutely a personal decision that you need to be happy with. When all is said and done, this is your business and operating under a name that you are proud of helps to make the experience that much swee...ter. That being said, you also want a name that connects with and entices your audience. Going with a name that is too complicated, difficult to spell or profane (absolutely not recommended!), can be a deterrent to your audience. Words are powerful. The name of your business is powerful too. You can create certain moods, atmospheres and energy levels simply with the name of your business. That's why it's important to know what your business is about and to have your core values in place. I won't go into details for that yet, but it is something to consider when deciding a business name. If you're really struggling to come up with something you like, I have a couple of resources to help you. www.namelix.com is a name generator. You enter a word or part of a word you like and it will give you plenty of combinations to choose from. www.wordoid.com is a similar site, however, it will tell you if the name has an available domain. This is convenient, as it means you can be sure whatever name you choose for your business, will also be the domain for your business website. This makes you easier to find when your audience searches for you. I hope these resources are helpful to you. If you would like some feedback on your business name, or help deciding between more than one name, comment below and we'll help you out! :)

08.01.2022 If you're considering an online store but you're not sure where to start - I highly recommend checking out the content on this website. Dropship Downunder is run by 2 brothers who are completely self-made business owners. They have really down-to-earth, simple information on starting your online store and have even developed a course to get you started. They focus on the Australian market, so their information is relevant and updated constantly. Check out their YouTube channe...l, follow them on Facebook and learn all you can from them! https://www.dropshipdownunder.com.au/ If you were to start an online store, what would be your ideal product? Mine would be stationary! (Though I'd probably be my own best customer!)

05.01.2022 When I completed high school and attempted university, I remember feeling so dumb because I was terrible at regurgitating information for exams and would therefore fail. I remember wishing my research assignment marks counted for more against my end result as I would excel at them. Then I completed a Cert III in Business during a traineeship with top grades and realised I was simply better suited to on-the-job assessment. So, this news from Vic excites me as I feel like our... schooling systems are finally beginning to catch up with our society, and making courses more accessible to students will hopefully encourage more people to try a different approach. Academic success is only one avenue to reach your dreams. Don't let yourself be defined by that avenue alone - seek out the teaching style that works for you. Whether it's university, TAFE, starting your own online business or simply working up through a company's hierarchy, find what works for you and then never give up! See more
