25.01.2022 When should you apply for 485 Visa if your course finishes earlier and still have student visa period remaining ? Read below: Situations where we might cancel your visa if your course finishes early;;; *****You need to either apply for a new visa or make travel plans to leave Australia within 28 days of finishing your main course early in these 2 situations:*****... - You changed courses after we granted your Student visa, and the new Confirmation of Enrolment for your main course has a shorter end date. - You are studying more than one course on your Student visa (known as course packaging), and there is a lengthy gap before the next course starts. If you do neither, we might cancel your visa if you have not applied for a new visa or made travel plans. A lengthy course gap is more than 2 months, except where a standard academic year ends and begins. Immigration reviews each situation on a case-by-case basis and consider if you: - legitimately finished the course early - have a good academic record - could reasonably enrol in another course during the course gap - We may consider cancelling your visa if you have breached other student visa conditions. 23.01.2022 As of March this year, there were 139,331 skilled visa holders in Australia, which is about one per cent of the working population. That figure is expected to have declined significantly as Australias tough border controls prevent foreigners entering the country. Total immigration is predicted to drop to just 36,000 in 2020-21, down from 240,000 in 2018-19, due to the impact of coronavirus.... That would be Australias lowest population increase in more than 40 years, posing a major threat to economic growth which is strongly linked to population growth. https://www.google.com.au//Australias-radical-immigration-

12.01.2022 Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the changes would give international students confidence in their visa arrangements so they can make plans to study in Australia when it is safe to do so. 04.01.2022 Nil Student visa fee charge needs good evidence back up. You may receive invalid application response otherwise and may overstay in Australia. Read below for more info : After lodging a further student visa with a NIL VAC for students whose studies have been impacted by COVID-19 they have received an invalid application notification from the Department. The MIA has contacted the Department on this issue and we have been informed that the applications that have been returned a...s invalid either do not meet the required criteria, or are missing the required evidence to satisfy the decision maker. If your client held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and they couldnt complete their course during the original visa validity due to COVID-19, in order to have a NIL VAC you will need to lodge a completed Form 1545 as well as evidence which supports that the students course was impacted by COVID-19. This will be relevant for students who: deferred their study as they were unable to enter Australia due to travel restrictions were forced to reduce to a part-time study load were unable to complete their work-based training and/or placements The NIL VAC is not intended for students who are applying for a further student visa due to ordinary reasons i.e. including failing a course or unit of study, deferring for personal reasons or voluntarily reducing their study load.
