13.01.2022 TRAVEL EXEMPTIONS - WHERE DO I FIND OUT MORE? In these challenging times, the rules around travel exemptions seem to be one of the most frequently changing areas as more and more tough cases come to light. If you want to know if a combination of your visa and your job in Australia, or possibly your relationship with an Australian Citizen or permanent resident, might mean that you are eligible for a travel exemption allowing you to enter Australia, please have a look at the ...Department’s website: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/ for the latest information on the grounds that can be used to apply for an exemption. There's lots of information there about exemption categories and general information about how Covid-19 is affecting the various visa subclasses. A point to note about applying for an exemption to be able to travel to Australia because you are an immediate family member of an Australian citizen or permanent resident, please be aware that this isn't an exemption that you can get simply by providing your marriage certificate or a few utility bills. It actually now requires a detailed mini partner visa application! Please do read through those requirements carefully and do think about getting advice from a Registered Migration Agent to make sure that your travel exemption application ticks all the boxes! The good news is that when you are granted the offshore Partner visa (that's the subclass 309 or subclass 100 visa), you don't need to apply for an exemption to travel to Australia. You are an immediate family member or an Australian citizen or permanent resident, so you can enter Australia. Of course, some states and territories have additional requirements before you can travel to them, so please check this out in advance. One final point to note if you are thinking about applying for an exemption to be able to travel to Australia because you are the spouse or partner of an Australian citizen or permanent resident, please be aware that this isn't an exemption that you can get simply by providing your marriage certificate or a few utility bills.
