16.01.2022 Do you know which Department is processing your visas? First there was Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Simple and logical? Apparently too much so, as it then became Department of Immigration and Border Protection. A salute to the borders that needed to be protected from boat people and immigrants swarming to the shores? And today surprise, surprise it is a Department of Home Affairs, with mission to keep Australia safe. If the name change will bring any other major changes, will remain to be seen.
15.01.2022 Hopefully we will know more about this by the evening. https://www.news.com.au///9238be942ba4c840fc4a9ca3d3a01a1b

06.01.2022 As per usual, Department of Home Affairs has started new financial year with visa fee increases. Luckily the increases are not overly drastic this time around, but a student visa now costs $575 for primary applicant, working holiday visa fee has increased to $450. Also there has been an increase to card fees that Department charges on the top of the visa fee - these are now 1.32% when paying by visa card. More info as always on Department's website

05.01.2022 Every year in March and September Department of Home Affairs review risk ratings they assign to schools and countries when determining requirements for student visa applications. Most notably this affects the financial requirement of student visa students must either declare or prove their financial situation - , and language requirements (if official language test such as IELTS is required). This week some changes came to effect. We will be in touch with all our students currently in enrolment process if this affects them. And of course continue assisting any prospective students with their study and student visa queries. Contact us on [email protected] for more info https://visafy.com.au/en/student-visa-information
04.01.2022 Some updates for international students: The information from Australian government is that international students who can continue supporting themselves (have family support, secure part-time work or their own savings), are welcome to continue with their studies in Australia. Most colleges have moved to online teaching for now and help students as much as they can (including reducing tuition fees). If students are not able to support themselves for coming months, they should... consider returning home now (while limited international flights are still available). Some key points: Students who have been here longer than 12 months who find themselves in financial hardship will be able to access their Australian superannuation. International students in their first 12 months are expected to support themselves given their visa application commitment that they had sufficient funds to support their stay in Australia. International students working in aged care and as nurses continue to have their hours extended to support these critical sectors International students working in supermarkets can work extra hours until 1 May (after this date more Australians are being recruited into these roles) The Government will also be flexible in cases where Coronavirus has prevented international students meeting their visa conditions (such as not being able attend classes) Full media release available here: https://minister.homeaffairs.gov.au//Coronavirus-and-Tempo See more
04.01.2022 Walking between skyscrapers in Surfers Paradise or Perth CBD you would think that you are in the city. But think again, for migration purposes both Gold Coast and Perth will soon be considered regional. This is yet another exciting news from minister of immigration. From 16 November, when also new regional visas will be introduced, both Perth and Gold Coast will be regional Australia. For students in Perth and Gold Coast the magic label of regional city may give opport...unity for 2nd graduate visa to stay in Australia longer, or to get 5 extra points in General Skilled Migration program. There is also talk about special university scholarships coming up. Most importantly this change will mean that there will be more occupations on a skilled list eligible for sponsorship and state nomination in those areas and more opportunities to stay permanently in Australia. Stay tuned :) See more
04.01.2022 We are currently doing a bit of maintenance on our website - it will be back up soon. In the mean time write us on [email protected]
04.01.2022 Did you know that occupation Footballer (ANZCO code 452411) is currently included in Australia’s Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)? With World Cup drawing to a close, there is a strong case for moving the occupation to Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). Croatian and French applicants should have an advantage.
03.01.2022 As per usual, DIBP started the new financial year by increasing visa fees. Student visa is now $565.49 (including card fees), and with partner $989.6. Full details on all visa fees can be found here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees#tab-content-1
