13.01.2022 Pension Changes (COVID-19) The Australian Federal Government has proposed two key measures to help retirees and those receiving income support to manage the financial impact of COVID-19. 1. Lower minimum pension drawdown rates... The government has announced a 50% reduction in the minimum income drawdown from account-based pensions and similar products for 2019-20 and 2020-21. This means Australian retirees can reduce income payments from their superannuation-based pensions or income streams to minimise the need to sell down assets in depressed market. It’s not compulsory so if you’d prefer to maintain your income you don’t need to take any action. 2. Lower deeming rates The government has also announced a further 0.25% reduction in deeming rates to reflect the low interest rate environment. This means Australians receiving the Age Pension and income support will have less income assessed from their financial investments. New deeming rates in image.

12.01.2022 Key points (COVID-19) - While shares have rallied 15-20% from their March low and may have started a bottoming process, it’s still too early to say with confidence we have seen the low for this bear market. - Key signposts to watch for are: signs that the virus can soon be contained (here the evidence is starting to look better); monetary & fiscal stimulus to minimise collateral damage to economies (this gets a tick); signs that collateral damage is being kept to a minimum ...and growth momentum is bottoming (it’s too early for this one albeit this may partly be a lagging indicator); and technical signs of a market bottom (some tick off). Contact our office for your complimentary consultation, to discuss your current circumstances. 08 9474 9777

09.01.2022 Allocated Pensions change to minimum income amounts! As part of the COVID-19 financial support package the Government has brought in changes to help support people on retirement who hold pensions. It is important to note that this does not affect Centrelink pensions.... The Government is temporarily reducing the minimum income amount you must withdraw from your pension for this financial year, and in the 2020-21 financial year. While not everyone will be in a position to do this, this may be helpful for retirees who want to conserve their assets. . How to make changes Should you not wish to have the amount you are currently receiving reduce, you can do this by contacting your pension provider directly or contact us at Vision for help. If you have any queries or need further information please contact us on (08) 9474 9777. We’re here to help in any way we can. Yours sincerely The Vision Team.
