22.01.2022 Fourteen years ago, Ismael’s parents moved to Mumbai from Kolkata. Like many other migrants, they too hoped to earn a decent living, and settled into one of Mumbai’s struggling slum communities. One afternoon, our community workers were looking for children who were out of school, and met five-year-old Ismael playing on the narrow streets of his slum community. We asked to meet his parents, but Ismael wasn’t interested in going to school. He enjoyed playing a...round with his friends at home. 32 million Indian children like Ismael (upto 13 years) have never attended any school, according to the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) When Ismael’s parents learned about how powerful education can be, they enrolled him in our Beacon Learning Centre. Initially, Ismael would remain silent and not respond in the class. After several weeks of counselling Ismael and his parents, he finally started attending the class regularly. Your gifts also reached out to Ismael with a nutritious meal every weekday, educational books and stationery. Ismael is a quick learner and loves coming to class. He participates in all class activities. Things were going fine for Ismael’s family when the lockdown happened in April 2020. His father, who is the sole breadwinner of their 7-member family, lost his job. They were shattered. They didn’t have money to pay the rent; there was hardly any food on their table. That’s when your generosity reached Ismael once again. You have been providing his family with groceries for almost 10 months now. It was because of your help that Ismael and his siblings didn't go to bed hungry. Ismael’s family sends you blessings from the bottom of their hearts. Thank You for Reaching out with Love in these unprecedented times.

10.01.2022 Ishtiyak studies in Junior Kindergarten at Vision Rescue’s Beacon Learning Centre in his slum community. His teachers say that he is the most helpful and obedient student in class. He loves to help conduct class activities and assist his friends with their studies. Five years ago, Ishtiyak’s father moved to Mumbai with his wife and daughter from one of India’s most impoverished states - Uttar Pradesh. Today they have three children, including Ishtiyak. They live in a slu...m community that surrounds a public garbage dump into which several metric tonnes of trash from across Mumbai gets dumped every day. Ishtiyak’s father Issa earns around Rs.8000 (approx 109 USD) per month; and he had been working hard to keep a roof over his children and put food on their tables, when the lockdown happened. Ishtiyak’s father broke his arm and he couldn’t go to work anymore. Their whole world just stood still; the sole earning member of the family was unable to go for work anymore and they couldn’t find any other way to feed themselves or pay for his treatment. That’s when you stepped in to help Ishtiyak’s family. You provided them with groceries every month and hearty nutritious snacks for the children. Our community workers along with medical interns provided Ishtiyak’s father medical assistance. Ishtiyak’s mother was worried about her children’s education as they did not have a smartphone to attend online classes. Your gifts reached out once again to Ishtiyak and an education representative was sent to his home to teach him. Ishtiyak is improving in his studies and his father is getting timely medical assistance. Thank You for Reaching out with Love and being a strong support to Ishtiyak and his family. #VisionRescueUSA #ReachingoutwithLove

02.01.2022 4 slums communities. 1 goal: empower people to live with dignity (even in a pandemic)! That’s exactly what you did for hundreds of struggling parents of our children in India throughout this tough year. Thank YOU #VisionRescueAUS #ReachingoutwithLove

02.01.2022 4-year-old Khushi lives in a small house beside a creek that’s chock full of the neighbourhood garbage and a breeding ground for disease. As the slum they live in is an unauthorised settlement, basic necessities such as water, electricity and washrooms come at a premium price. The family had little money left over to educate Khushi. That’s when your donations reached out to Khushi and she was enrolled into our Beacon Learning Centre. But soon, our teachers observed that K...hushi cried often in the class and was irregular. Khushi’s dedicated community officer then visited her house and found out the sad truth. Khushi’s mother was a victim of domestic violence. Her father would hit her mother and Khushi would often go to bed hungry. On counselling Khushi’s parents, Khushi started coming to classes regularly. Her teachers say that she is one of the most obedient and focused children in the class. During the lockdowns in India, your gifts also reached out to Khushi. With your support we were able to provide groceries every month to Khushi’s family and also healthy snacks for Khushi. Your donations even helped cover their leaking roof with tarpaulins during the monsoons. To continue her education even while classrooms were closed, an education representative was sent to teach Khushi every day in her home. Because of your support Khushi dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up. Thank You for Reaching out with Love to this precious child! #VisionRescueAustralia #ReachingoutLove
