25.01.2022 Travelling to Deni? Here’s what you need to know There’s been a lot of changes in the last week, and at times it can be a little confusing. If you’re planning to Visit Deni in the coming weeks, here’s what you need to know. Travelling from Victoria:... Currently, Victorians are welcome to visit regional NSW and as we are in a green zone, you will not be required to quarantine or self-isolate following your stay. All you will need to do is obtain a permit, which is a simple process that only takes a few minutes. Find out more here: https://www.service.vic.gov.au/services/border-permit/home Travelling from NSW: There are currently restrictions in place for residents in the Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Wollongong areas. If you have been in any of these areas since the 11 December, we ask that you follow health advice and do not travel. Otherwise, all other NSW residents are free to travel throughout NSW. We want to reassure visitors that our region is open for business and our operators look forward to welcoming you for your summer holiday. As always, the most accurate and up to date information will be made available through state health websites. If you have a chance, drop in and have a look before the 27th of September 2020. Thanks to our flat landscape and minimal artificial lighting we're a popular spot for star gazers. Local tip: the best time for stargazing is on a clear night during the new moon phase, when the moon isn’t bright enough to affect observation. This exhibition is brought to you by the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (Powerhouse Museum) and South West Arts Inc.

09.01.2022 Reflections On any other year, we’d be reflecting on memories of a weekend spent at the Deni Ute Muster - but this year is a little different. 05.01.2022 Looking for a holiday read? Drop by Deni's Book Exchange One of the things we love about Deni is the community spirit. Our locals are friendly and welcoming, and sometimes go the extra mile to brighten someone's day! Which is exactly what Deni's Book Exchange is striving towards. On Hodgkins Street you'll find this sweet little book exchange. Where you're welcome to leave a book and take another, or borrow and return. It's right near Deniliquin Bakery, so make sure you gra...b one of their award-winning pies while you're there If you're chasing some book recommendations, here are some recent reads we really enjoyed: The Lost Man, by Jane Harper Two brothers meet at the border of their vast cattle properties under the unrelenting sun of outback Queensland. They are at the stockman's grave, a landmark so old, no one can remember who is buried there. But today, the scant shadow it casts was the last hope for their middle brother, Cameron. Our review: 4.5/5 - Great story and we loved that it's set in Australia. Our favourite Jane Harper book. The Happiest Man on Earth, by Eddie Jaku Eddie Jaku always considered himself a German first, a Jew second. He was proud of his country. But all of that changed in November 1938, when he was beaten, arrested and taken to a concentration camp. Over the next seven years, Eddie faced unimaginable horrors every day, first in Buchenwald, then in Auschwitz, then on a Nazi death march. He lost family, friends, his country. Our review: 5/5 - Loved it. Eddie has a remarkable view of the world! The Giver of Stars, by Jojo Moyes England, late 1930s, and Alice Wright - restless, stifled - makes an impulsive decision to marry wealthy American Bennett Van Cleve and leave her home and family behind. But stuffy, disapproving Baileyville, Kentucky, where her husband favours work over his wife and is dominated by his overbearing father, is not the adventure - or the escape - that she hoped for. Our review: 4/5 - Interesting story! As book lovers, it was nice to be reminded how much joy books can bring - especially to the rural community featured in this story. If you're lucky, you might find a copy of these at the book exchange! Happy reading!
