08.01.2022 HAY THERE ~ A local told me that Hamilton’s closest neighbour, Tarrington, celebrate their German heritage at the end of each year with an annual festival and a hay bale art competition! Unfortunately, this year, the community has to go ahead without the beloved Laternenfest, so to compensate, they have made the hay bale art displays BIGGER and BETTER than ever with over 20 creations to be seen! Travel the road south east of Hamilton and be amazed by some incredible piece...s of art, not surprisingly heavily influenced by the year of 2020. Spot a giant ‘Bluey’, a blue dog that took over the screens of young families, tributes to the great panic buying debacle of toilet paper, a giant can of Glen20, kung-flu fighting corona germs (masks included) and of course, a nod to the US presidential election with an unimpressed looking Donald Trump. See all these for yourself along with many more very clever and well executed hay bale art. The hay bales will be on display all throughout December and the winners will be decided by the staff at the Hamilton Gallery along with a people’s choice award!
