21.01.2022 In Western Australias South West, were free to #WanderOutYonder - and that means tackling the Southern Forests and Valleys climbing trees! A series of fire lo...okouts were constructed during the 1930s and 1940s at the top of some very tall karri trees surrounding Pemberton and Manjimup. These lookouts were a way of spotting fires among the tall karri forest. Today, you can still visit two of the old fire lookout trees and one replica tree. Start with the Diamond Tree, which can be observed from the ground. Next, try the 53metre climb at the Gloucester Tree and then conquer the 75metre-tall Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree in the Warren National Park, where youll be rewarded with 360-degree views from the top viewing platform! #AdventureAwaits Planning a trip? Here are some of our suggestions! STAY: On the peaceful and picturesque property at Diamond Forest Farm Stay or in the secluded forest at The Forest Lodge Resort. DO: Take a stroll through the immersive Understory Art & Nature Trail at nearby Northcliffe Visitor Centre & Public Library for a nature-meets-art experience. WINE & DINE: At the on-site restaurant at The Forest Lodge Resort or RAC Karri Valley Resort Lakeside Restaurant. 21.01.2022 We are BACK! Find us at Manjin Park on Saturday 30th May. We will have all your beautiful, seasonal produce for you! We will have a slightly different layout ...and will require all patrons to use the provided santisier, follow the one way system, not touch produce unless you are purchasing and maintain a 1.5m distance from other patrons and stall holders. But otherwise we will be back and very happy to see our regulars and visiting patrons alike. Genuinely Southern Forests

18.01.2022 BTF Office - The Foundations Reception hours are currently between 10:00am and 4:00pm. If you are picking up or returning hire gear, we ask that this is done b...efore 3:45 pm to allow for processing. The YHA front doors remain closed for the time being so you will need to ring us on 9481 0551 to allow us to let you in. As at Saturday 27th June, all restrictions in WA relevant to the hiking and the Track were removed. This means that groups sizes for overnights stays at campsite revert to pre-COVID-19 limits. Follow the link below for more information on limits and to lodge a group notification if you are in a group of eight people or more planning to stay overnight. Please continue to maintain social distancing and hygiene precautions: - Keep the required minimum distance between you and other hikers, currently 1.5m. Avoid shaking hands or other close contact waving is a safer way to greet others. - Use hand sanitiser before eating and after touching surfaces. Use hand sanitizer that contains 70-95% alcohol. - Avoid sharing food, utensils and drink bottles. - Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. - Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Use the crook of your arm (inner elbow) or use a tissue, put it into a sealable bag and dispose of it using Leave No Trace principles. - It should go without saying (but we will say it anyway) do not hike on the Track if you are required to self-isolate, quarantine or feel unwell. At this stage this applies to those who have arrived in Perth from overseas or interstate, have been exposed to the virus, are waiting for their test results or are a vulnerable person. You need to self-isolate AT HOME for a minimum of 14 days. We will continue to monitor the advice and Guidelines of the Australian Department of Health. For latest updates and health advice visit WA.gov.au.

03.01.2022 AUSTRALIND OUT OF SERVICE THIS CHRISTMAS The Australind train service is being repaired and is expected to be out of service for the Christmas and New Year's pe...riod. Two accessible Transwa road coaches will be operating at a 75% discounted rate. One coach will run express between Bunbury and Perth with a stop at Kwinana Station and the other will service the communities along the Australind route. The 33-year-old train is notorious for regular issues stopping it in its tracks. A replacement train is being constructed and is expected to be completed by 2023. Member for Bunbury Don Punch says the previous government were due to upgrade the service by 2017 but that didn't happen.
