Mitchies has been a historical site for tourists and locals for decades and was originally built by Ernie Wills in the 1920's then bought by Don Mitchelson, which is where the name originates! Both men were local fisherman that stored their fishing gear within the shed while tending to salmon pens in the lake; and this is where "Fish Pen" gets its name.... The current Mitchies Jetty isn't the original structure that Wills built back in the 1920's. The Jetty was replaced by Don around the 1940's and the shed was rebuilt in the early 1950's and still stands strong today for tourist and locals to enjoy.
