24.01.2022 We have just said goodbye to our lovely couple Jenniina from Finland and Richard from Luxembourg. They were with us for 5 weeks and they achieved so much for us during the worst time - the virus lockdown. They worked with all the animals, they exercised the horses, the treated the sheep and the cattle, mustered the cattle on the hill, feed Duke the Maremma and were great companions and lovely to have around. They have just arrived at their new job in central Queensland ...and we hope they will return one day. Jenniina has sent some photos and I am attaching them here, plus some from the farm here to remind them of all that they were doing over the last five weeks. We now have their friends from Finland, Heikki and Susanna from Finland to help us for the next month. Welcome to them. Susanna even has her birthday to-day, which we celebrated last night! I am having difficulty with the photos, so will try again tomorrow. See more

23.01.2022 Perfect advice for Easter at home

12.01.2022 Something to make you smile - in spit of everything!

11.01.2022 In the previous post were several duplicates because I could not see what I was posting for some reason. I am now posting again two pictures of Fungus and Prince all rugged up. These two pictures were designed by Linor and Kevin for a Spot the Difference competition. Can you see the differences? Prince is now 35 and still going well, if a bit thin now - he is getting some special lucerne which he loves.

09.01.2022 Just to cheer you up ......

06.01.2022 We have been keeping in touch with the rest of the family with Zoom meetings organised by Andrew. Last Sunday there were 11 people signed in. We played memory... games and spot the difference games, we learned a new one from the Brisbane 'mafia' called Kahout - they were very good at that! We also had some musical tit bits with Will, Harriet, Eric and Max playing. Queenslanders are allowed to visit each other now and we can take campers for agbiking. Ed has been here helping with some of the participants and we are gradually creeping out of hibernation. There is talk that we may open the borders to New Zealand soon, but at the moment Queensland is still shut off from New South Wales. The T-Bs were riding here with Ed and Will has sent some pictures. Until the people from overseas are allowed to come here we can only operate with 10% of our usual capacity! It is looking very brown, no rain to speak of since early March.

05.01.2022 A new arrival on the 27th July - and another one this morning. Several sets of twins have been born over the last three weeks - either black and white spotted or pure white - all Dorpers. Dominik Worst from Germany took this photo

04.01.2022 Here are some photos from Richard and Jennii's stay on Springbrook Farm, plus one of Duke and the cottage. Greetings to everyone reading this, things are starting to get easier now with the virus regulations, but please pray for some rain - nothing since February - many thanks.

03.01.2022 We have just had an excellent week at Springbrook Farm - with Susanna and Heikki from Finland, Luna and Til from Germany, Jens from Belgium, Ross from UK and John from Canada. Both Ross and John have sent some pictures to add to the story and we hope you enjoy them. Peter took them bareback riding - all were beginners at the start of the week - which they really enjoyed. We are still socially-distancing and have the tables well spread out on the verandah - outdoors we a...re allowed a group of 10 people, so that is not posing a problem. Twin lambs were born a week ago, one has a brown spot on the rump. Luna has gone to a job in the NT, Ross to NSW and three others for northern Queensland - thank you to all the employers offering them so many choices - more participants arrive tomorrow. Heikki abd Susanna have one more week with us in which to train the new Go Fors. Ed came up from Brisbane at the beginning of the week to help Peter with the motorbikes and horse riding. Cathie produced some more delicious food and Tanya has had two weeks of well deserved holiday - Will and Jules took over the job offers and employers were very quickly chosen. Thank you to everyone who made it such fun and lots of good luck in your new jobs.

02.01.2022 We have had another good week here on Springbrook Farm - with Jamie from England now gone to a job in Burketown, Linor from Canada and Kevin from Poland who aree the current Go Fors. Appearing in a lot of pictures is Ioan from Wales who is off to a job nearby tomorrow and Manon from France who has just arrived. Three more French arrive tomorrow and one boy from Germany. Thank you to Kevin for most of the pictures. Things are opening up now and we had a lovely meal and winetasting at Moffatdale Ridge as well as supper in the Royal Hotel in Murgon where we met Manon off the bus.

01.01.2022 This week we celebrated Dominik's 20th birthday. He thought he had got away without a celebration until Cathie appeared with a cake for him. Kevin took some other photos of the sheep - Peter instructing fencing, twin lambs (thats 3 or 4 sets of twins now) and one of the countryside. It is looking very brown now but we did have a short sharp storm (4mm) enough to stop the TV working. It is still very quiet here, but the cattle, sheep and horses are all looking well and plenty of employers are calling in for workers. We are taking bookings from overseas for September and October and hoping that the borders will open for agricultural workers soon - not have to wait until next year. There is a Parliamentary enquiry into Working Holidays and agriculture in particular - coming soon - maybe we will hear some good news in August.
