24.01.2022 When is the last time you visited the Art Gallery of Western Australia?Head to Art Gallery WA now to see Pulse Perspectives. WA's talented young artists are celebrated in this yearly showcase, gauging the pulse of young people who will influence, empower and shape the world we live in. The selected works provide a window into young peoples private, social and artistic concerns. It is in turns an inspiring, rewarding and insightful look at the world through the minds of our m...ost talented young artists. This years exhibition features 44 works by 2019 Year 12 Visual Arts graduates from 29 schools across Western Australia. In this work, Hive, Pulse Perspectives artist Sarah Bastow, who grew up with beehives, reflects on this disturbing trend, as well as highlighting the geometric beauty of these buzzing structures The work is inspired by my interest having grown up with beehives and my concern for their recent population decline. Bees and their hives often connote busyness, community and chaos I aimed to create a focus on the beauty of nature.
