16.01.2022 Salmon Gum - eucalyptus salmonophloia - weerluk Back in 1892 the young leaves of salmon gums were used by JWS Parker of Dangin in his eucalyptus oil distillery. His choice of leaf and the fact that he chose to triple distill his oil, led to awards at a Melbourne exhibition in 1893, Glasgow in 1901 and a recently unearthed (1993) award from the 1900 World Trade Fair in Paris. This original certificate was handed over to the Battye Library. Much of the distillery was eventually... destroyed by a storm at a time of rising costs and eastern states competition so Mr. Parker shut up shop and sold the rights to F H Faulding. It's rumored that a moonshine still may have later been operating at the site. Wonder what that tasted like? @westgrowfarmtrees #distillery #eucalyptusoil #moonshine #weerluk #salmongum #wanderoutyonder #roadtripcountry

14.01.2022 Friday’s are perfect for a choc chip cookie with your coffee, don’t you think.

14.01.2022 Christmas in a bush hall - it’s how we roll, and we love it! Our outlying sports/tennis clubs host many and varied events and activities for their tight knit communities. They’re so important! photo by @shaekj86

13.01.2022 Our beautiful caravan park is very popular it seems, but do not despair if you were planning on visiting next weekend - we have other options. Toapin Weir is a great spot to spend a night or two with a BBQ and flushing toilet on site. Kwolyin Camp is a little further east, has a camp kitchen and is close to Kokerbin Rock. And if you're fully self contained you are welcome to park up in a designated area near our Quairading town oval.... We look forward to your visit anytime.

07.01.2022 The busy buzz of harvest is well and truly upon us - in between rainfall events at the moment. In the paddock you're likely to see a header, a truck, field bins, fire fighting unit, fuel trailer, utes, motorbike, probably a tractor & chaser bin, a comb trailer and hopefully not a screener bin. And who knows what's packed in those harvest eskies on board those headers, trucks and tractors! Shout out to fellow road users at this time and all those hard working CBH staff in at... the receival point - aka 'the bin'. 06.01.2022 Fabulous feedback from seasoned travellers - thanks so much! I cannot tell you what a lovely unexpected surprise it was to stay in the little cabin at Quairading Caravan Park it was fabulous. We have stayed in a number of country towns and the accommodation has always been dodgy at best. We were expecting old, musty and slightly damp accommodation we even brought our own bedding just in case. Instead we were greeted with a bright, fresh, clean and a very modern little... cabin that was way beyond our expectations. Congratulations to the team who decided this was the way to go it was great. Book your cabin by calling the Shire on 9645 2400. #bookacabin #mywheatbelt #awindowinthewheatbelt

05.01.2022 We were pretty chuffed when we happened across this post from @maccasholidaymemories. "Toapin Weir, a surprise find. A lovely free camp spot, dog friendly, just over 2 hours from Perth. We parked in the overflow paddock area just behind the campground." Plus the night sky was amazing and they loved our town! ... #toapinweir #nightsky #overflowcamping #freecamping #quairading #visitquairading #takeacloserlook

03.01.2022 Kambarang season in Ballardong Noongar Boodja. October - November is the wildflower season with many yellow flowers, kangaroo paws and banksias in bloom.
