15.01.2022 Merry Xmas from Andrew, Lissa and Cayenne!

14.01.2022 Good times for Andrew & Lissa. Arrived in Sydney, returning from Los Angeles to live by Easter 1982. Little did we know what was to come. Thanks goes to Tony Wong Hee for delivering our 'Live Nude Girl' demos (our post-punk art band) to producer Mark Moffatt at Festival Records in Pyrmont. This led to our first single 'Tough Guy/Tokyo' released in February 1993 https://youtu.be/6mhObG3q0aY with the help of Sam McNally on keyboards, drum machine and his Rose Bay front room.

10.01.2022 Great to be playing our songs at the Carmel For Gilmore launch at The Dish And The Spoon Cafe Go Greens In Gilmore. Vote for change!

08.01.2022 Vitabeats Spot the Spanner. Review of track 'Savages' by author Michael Faber: 'This is still a superb piece in my opinion. Indeed I would go so far as to say that it's one of the high points of 1980s Australian music. If Vitabeats had managed to create only this one track and nothing else, they would still have earned a place of distinction in music history. 'Savages' is a quite an extraordinary synthesis of styles, but rather than being a messy mixture, it carries itself ...with absolute confidence and (uniquely for the material on this LP) a sense of dangerous potency. I don't know you felt when you made it, or how you feel about it now, but from where I sit, I get the impression of a band who've brought something into existence that's bigger than they are, something that could turn round and stomp on them. Does that sound too fanciful? If so, just take it as my way of telling you that this piece still thrills me after all these years and after all the thousands of pieces of great music I've heard since then. It occupies a stylistic intersection of funk, reggae, rock, electronica and pop, never losing its poise, never going too far in any of those directions but maintaining the fusion. Every aspect of it is chosen & developed with clarity of purpose. Michel Faber (Author: The Crimson Petal and the White, Vanilla Bright like Eminem, The Fire Gospel (The Myths) Patrick Campbell

04.01.2022 Vale Andrew ‘Greedy’ Smith. And thanks @markmordue for some great Mentals context. Greedy’s passing sends a shiver through the Aus music firmament. A dearly loved frontman of a very influential, and cherished Sydney art school-band. Vitabeats did one support with them at Doyalson RSL (proud memory). Mental as Anything freed up an expressive space for an Australian identity that paved the way for everyone.
