24.01.2022 What a great initiative from the kids at Old Bar Public School - turning plastic bottle lids into prosthetic hands. I am happy to collect any lids and ensure they are added to the collection to send off to be made into something useful for someone in need.

22.01.2022 Some information for those with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

22.01.2022 Hmmmm. Vital Physio is located in the River Arcade. Not sure if it will be located in the actual Manning River at some stage due to the flooding in Taree. Fingers are crossed it doesn't but only time will tell. My thoughts are with all the business owners in The Arcade and CBD of Taree who are coming to grips with the current flooding situation. My thanks to my good friend who has sent me this picture and keeping me updated while I am away.

22.01.2022 With community transmission on the rise in Victoria we must remember the simple things we can all do to keep ourselves safe.

21.01.2022 I often get asked if I am cooking eggs in the fry pan! The frying pan is used to heat splinting material so that I can make a custom made splint that fits your hand. It is one of the many things that a hand therapist does every day.

20.01.2022 Vital Physio will need to remain closed until further notice. While I was very fortunate to not sustain any flooding in the clinic, I do not have any power and need to wait for an Electrician to test if it is safe to turn the power back on due to the flood damage in neighbouring properties. I do not have an estimated time frame for this. I sincerely apologise to everyone who has been inconvenienced but it is completely out of my control.

18.01.2022 Vital Physio is still open and providing a face to face service for anyone requiring treatment for the hand or upper limb. Physiotherapy has been classified as an essential service and the government has encouraged us to remain open. We are cleaning all treatment areas between every client and practicing social distancing during treatment wherever possible. Hand sanitiser is available in the waiting room and on our treatment table to use during treatment. If you have any concerns or questions please let us know

17.01.2022 At Vital Physio we treat conditions from fingertip to shoulder. If you are having problems with shoulder pain give us a call.

17.01.2022 Just a quick message to assure anyone who already has an appointment booked or needs to make an appointment that Vital Physio is still open. There will be a small break between appointments to allow for appropriate cleaning. I have also changed the way I consult to accommodate social distancing during your appointment. As I am a sole practitioner you will likely have the waiting room to yourself too. Everyone is encouraged to please use the hand sanitiser prior to your appoi...ntment. If you prefer to wash your hands this can easily be accommodated so please ask. Telehealth will also be an option. I will advise once this has been finalised. Stay healthy.

17.01.2022 This week is Hand Therapy Awareness week. What is hand therapy? It is rehabilitation performed by Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists for patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper extremities. Our hands and arms are so important to enable us to do our work, leisure or any activity we need or want to do.

16.01.2022 Vital Physio will be closed until further notice due to the ongoing flooding in Taree and the Manning Valley. All appointments will be cancelled for this week as, like most of you, I am unable to get to Taree due to the road closures caused by flooding. If anyone has concerns about their condition/injury due to missing their appointment please either:... - Email me at [email protected] or - send an SMS to 0411 663 426. I will try to have Telehealth available again later this week (if I can get home) for those requesting this as an option. Once again please let me know via email or SMS if this is something you wish to do. I hope everyone is safe. I have been thinking of everyone during this difficult time and look forward to being able to see you all again soon. Megan.

16.01.2022 Great demonstration as to why our actions can have far reaching effects.

11.01.2022 Did you know that how you think about your pain can change the way it feels? And, the amount of pain you experience doesn’t necessarily equate to ‘damage’. Pai...n is a mechanism produced by our bodies for protection. This episode of Talking Physio brings together Pain scientist and APA honoured member Professor Lorimer Mosley, and Chair of the APA Pain group Diane Wilson, for a robust conversation on all things pain. The duo discuss pain research over the past 50 years and their predictions for physiotherapy and pain science in the 20 years to come. 11.01.2022 Sometimes we have joints that move more than we need them too. This can then cause stress which can lead to an increase in pain and further deformity during functional activities. For this person hand sewing causes hyperextension of the thumb MCP joint. By using a simple splint we can position the joint correctly to allow sewing to be done with less pain and preventing the joint from moving into a deforming position.

10.01.2022 This may be interesting for those with arthritis.
