21.01.2022 With the colder weather setting in we are beginning to have more and more requests for blankets and warm jumpers and jackets. Unfortunately, we can only hand out what we have and at the moment that is about zilch of those items. So we are putting the call out for donations of blankets and warm clothes! If you live in Brisbane and have blankets and/or jumpers and jackets you dont need any more please contact the page and someone will provide any more information you need. :)

21.01.2022 A massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of our Sunday night cooks Brigita! Brigita is one of our longest running volunteers and is always on hand to jump in and help where necessary. All of us at Vital Connection wish you all the best today and hope you get all you wish for :)

21.01.2022 VITAL CONNECTION would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new likers to our facebook page. If you are ever considering volunteering, why not volunteer with us? We operate three nights a week which means you can choose the night that suits you best! Our team are friendly and it is a great chance to meet new friends :)

21.01.2022 Its finally here! National Volunteer Week 2013 :) Please take the time this week to say thanks a million to the millions of volunteers in our country and let them know that there work is greatly appreciated

20.01.2022 Tonight, one of our wonderful and dedicated cooks tried something different and made stuffed capsicums. Needless to say, they tasted as beautiful as they looked and were a fan favourite. Wonderful work Irena!!!

19.01.2022 VITAL CONNECTION would like to spend a moment and tell everyone about another great charity, BAM ESPRESSO. BAM ESPRESSO is a hidden coffee shop where you order your coffee and then pop your normal coffee coins into a donations bucket. All donations then go towards helping the homeless. Owner and founder Michael Stafford explains in the video below about his latest venture, the Homeless sack, where a $5 sack containing food, toiletries and other small items are collected and given to the homeless.

19.01.2022 National Volunteer Week is fast approaching with just over two months to go. Now is the time to stop and think about volunteering and how it benefits not only the community but volunteers themselves. Did you know that volunteering increases social and relationship skills? Or that it helps combat depression? Or that it can even help advance your career? For more information on the benefits of volunteering, visit http://www.helpguide.org//volunteer_opportunities_benefits

18.01.2022 During the November to February university holidays, we were lucky enough to have regular Sunday night volunteer, Victoria, as our Summer Intern. Victoria completed a Community Internship course as part of her university degree and chose Vital Connection to complete her hours with. During this time Victoria worked on many projects such as updating our website, creating a New Induction Kit and creating an audio-visual component (video) to go with the New Induction Kit. Victoria succeeded in many areas and now her university has asked her to feature in film with Vital Connection to help promote the course to future students. This photo was taken when Victoria had the opportunity to meet Rita, ADRAs National Program Director.

18.01.2022 Vital Connection would like to take the opportunity to say 'Thanks A Million' to our wonderful volunteers who donate the time to help us help others. To our cooks, thank-you for creating the delicious meals we serve. We get regular feedback on how delicious the meals are. To our team leaders, thank-you for the smooth running of Vital Connection on the nights we serve and for guiding our new volunteers. To our volunteers, regular or not, thank-you for donating the time to help make a change in our community. And finally, 'thanks a million' to all our supporters. Your behind the scenes charity, whether it be clothes, blankets, food, or financial donations helps our volunteers, help others.

17.01.2022 A brilliant talk from Dan Pallotta on non-profit and for-profit organisations. It is a slightly long video but it is worth a watch

17.01.2022 good to see people finding this page! Someone artistic please take a good photo and we'll upload it as the pic

16.01.2022 Over the past two weeks, we have seen a dramatic increase in the numbers of people we serve every Satuday, Sunday and Monday night. However, now that the Christmas period is over, we have experienced a decrease in volunteers and are running on minimal volunteers. If you or a friend have a spare few hours each week, why not volunteer and help us provide a top notch service to the community? Application forms can be provided by emailing Chris at [email protected] or can be requested here through facebook. Every hour you donate, helps us provide for those less fortunate in our community

12.01.2022 It may not be Spring but are you planning a Spring Clean anytime soon? If yes, VITAL CONNECTION would love to take any second hand clothes you may no longer need or want. We may be a Soup Kitchen but we also take along a suitcase of clothes for those we serve each night. Any donations would be greatly appreciated

11.01.2022 A massive 'Thanks A Million' to the volunteers from the Church and from Rosie's van who stepped up and helped us serve tonight. With only three volunteers, three members from the church above the kitchen skipped the Sunday night service to help us serve on the streets and three Rosie's volunteers helped us fill the remaining empty serving spots. Your generosity was much appreciated and our regular volunteers thank-you for helping. Another massive 'Thanks A Million' to one of our volunteers Colin who stopped by to help clean up. It was a night like tonight that makes us all realise how selfless people are. Thank-you

10.01.2022 National Volunteer Week is fast approaching with only 2 weeks and 6 days to go. National Volunteer Week runs from 13-19 May 2013 and this years theme is Thanks A Million!. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thanks to the 6 million volunteers Australia wide (1.2 million in Queensland). In light of this, Volunteering Queensland has many free events and activities planned to say thanks to all volunteers and to help promote volunteering. 10.01.2022 VITAL CONNECTION would like to take this opportunity to let you know about BAM EXPRESSO. BAM EXPRESSO are a charity organisation in The Valley that use their donations from cups of coffee to help feed the homeless and have recently started the BAM IT BACK foundation. This foundation joins us on the nights that we serve and give out blankets to those in need. If you are free on April 20, why not hop down to their cafe in The Valley and help out a great charity that gives back to the community :)

07.01.2022 We have been having a few enquiries about what will happen to Vital Connection and serving during G20. We will still be serving, however we are moving locations to the park underneath the Go Between Bridge in South Brisbane during the period of 8-17 November. After G20 is over, we will go back to our original serving location under the Turbot Street Overpass. As for volunteering, due to tight restrictions in the CBD we are going to have a pre-selected team of 8 and we cannot take on any extra volunteers during this time. So unfortunately if you arrive during those dates, we will have to politely tell you to go home and come back after G20 is over. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to contact us.

06.01.2022 Here at Vital Connection we love when volunteers bring their family and friends along to volunteer with them. We do however ask that you ask your family and friends to wear the correct clothing and footwear to help prevent accidents. 1. Shoes must be enclosed and thongs are STRICTLY prohibited. Thongs are too dangerous in a kitchen setting. 2. Hair shoulder length or longer must be tied back and out of the face. 3. Rings, bracelets and other jewelry must be taken off and p...laced in your bag or pockets. We hate turning away volunteers due to incorrect clothing and footwear but we must maintain a safe working environment for your benefit.

06.01.2022 A small preview of the first day of filming for the New Induction Film. A huge thanks to students at JMC Academy for volunteering their time to help us out and a huge thank-you to our regular Sunday night volunteer Colin for volunteering to be our actor!

04.01.2022 Vital Connection has been very quiet on Facebook but we are still alive and functioning. For any clients out there, we are relocating to Emma Miller Place until the work is finished at Little Roma Street. We hope to still see you!

01.01.2022 Thank-you to The Pathfinders for volunteering their services tonight. It was a great night and was a pleasure hosting you all.
