21.01.2022 We love SkinDoona! SkinDoona is a small business, local to Newcastle, owned and operated by herbalist Jessica Allan. Mother's Love is a fantastic product and one to have on hand or as a beautiful gift for a new mother. "One of the most vulnerable times in a woman's life is the first days, (and weeks), after giving birth. Regardless of how ones baby enters the world, there is most likely physical trauma of some kind. It may be mild swelling, third degree tearing or surgical w...ounds and scarring from a Caesarean section. There is no rest for a new Mother, as she learns to put her needs aside to keep this tiny creature nurtured and nourished. With sleep deprivation being a big adjustment, but the new normal, the discomfort can feel very overwhelming. Mother's Love is one way you can help support a Mama with her healing through this intense time. It is incredibly soothing for any swelling when applied to a pad, and the antibacterial properties of Golden Seal and Calendula assist the healing process. Gotu kola and Calendula are herbs specific for scarring, and St John's Wort has an effect on nerve endings to reduce pain. Comfrey is used for bruising, swelling and to regenerate healthy tissue." . . . #postbirth #newcastlebirth #newcastlepostnatal #newcastlenewmum #newcastlemums

02.01.2022 PURPLE SWEET POTATO PIZZA CRUST. Don't knock it till you try it! Ingredients... - 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons coconut flour (75g) - 2 tablespoons ground psyllium husk (9g) - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (15ml) - 1 cup lukewarm water - 1/2 cup steamed purple sweet potato Method 1- In a large mixing bowl add the coconut flour, psyllium husk, salt, olive oil and lukewarm water, purple sweet potato 2- Combine with a spatula or wooden spoon first then use your hand and knead the dough for 1 minute. The batter will be very moist at first and dry out as you go. Gather the pieces of dough and form a ball. If it is too dry, add a bit of water 1 tablespoon at a time. Set aside at room temp for 10 mins. 3- Slightly oil a sheet of parchment paper with olive oil. 4- Place the dough ball in the centre of the sheet. Place another piece of parchment paper on top of the ball, press with your hand to flatten the ball and start rolling with rolling pin until it reaches the thickness you like.. Remember it is crucial to roll the dough between parchment paper sheets to avoid sticking. 5- Peel off the top parchment paper sheet. Use a knife to cut out a nice pizza circle or keep the shape as you like. Pull the parchment paper sheet with the pizza base on it onto a baking sheet and preface the crust for 12-15 mins.. then make your pizza! recipe from@tplantbasedrd (instagram)
