18.01.2022 Wanting to lose weight Start on a diet Feeling motivated... Start losing weight Begin to lose motivation/willpower Ditch the diet Put all the weight back on plus some. Does this sound all to familiar??????? Research shows in many cases we are actually dieting ourselves heavier. Why does this happen..... Because we are focused on behaviour change, we are focused on the outcome. Having this focus requires huge amounts of motivation and willpower, all of which is limited and as it is not sustainable can lead us to feeling like a failure. Rather than focusing on the outcome we need to be focused on our everyday rituals and habits, ones that are based around what we want to achieve. Focusing on our rituals consistently will help us rewire our brains, changing our neural pathways, leading to long term, sustainable weight loss.
