25.01.2022 When we are passionate about preventative health it follows that we would seek the most up to date and unbiased research from practitioners using Lifestyle Medicine. One outstanding example is: Dr Caldwell Esselstyne whose passion after twentyfive plus years of research, healing and preventing Cardiovascular (Heart) disease for his numerous patients, now has a goal to annihilate the disease. A noble and inspiring goal when the disease is the biggest killer in the western wor...ld. The wholefood plantbased lifestyle Dr Esselstyne advocates has proven time and time again to not only prevent but to reverse the disease. We have only one short precious life and the quality of our health is largely determined by the quality of our relationship with our body. With so much advanced knowledge available we are able to achieve vibrant health, allowing us to remain fit and contributing for the whole of our lives.

23.01.2022 Reaching a state of inner freedom as regards emotions does not mean being apathetic or insensitive nor does it mean that existence loses its colour in the slightest. It simply means that, instead of being the plaything of our negative thoughts, moods, and temperaments, we become their masters. - Mathieu Ricard- Something for us all to work towards whilst acknowledging that happiness definitely an inside job. Great freedom comes with the realisation that nothing outside ourselves will ever create long term happiness.

23.01.2022 As the flu season in Australia continues and more people are laid low it is time to talk about our immune systems. We now know that 80% of our immune system depends on the healthy balance in our gut known as the microbiome or gut bacteria. When it is in balance it will defend against virus's and bacteria. Our food is the most healing when it is close to its natural state. A few immune boosting foods to consider are: CITRUS: Vitamin C defends agains bacterial infections. C...ARROTS:Vitamin A(Beta Carotene) supports a healthy immune system and promots vision. TURMERIC:Active ingredient Curcumin is anti inflammatory, antioxident, antibacterial and detoxifying. It supports digestive health and is a nutritional powerhouse rich in manganese, zinc,B vitamins and zinc. PAPAYA: Also a rich source of beta carotene which converts to vitamin A in the body and promotes healthy eyes, and skin tissues. GINGER: potent antioxident anti inflammatory and anti microbial helps boost immune function. GARLIC; The immune system warrior protecting from infections, containig allicin which is great for cardiac health. PINEAPPLE; Packed with B vitamins and containing the enzyme bromelain which aids digestion allowing the body to utilise immune boosting amino acids effectively. 21.01.2022 Knowing that cardio vascular (Heart) disease is the major killer in the Western world and with research now showing that those of us who have been raised and continue to eat a standard Western diet will develope a level of the disease at some point in our life. We also know from a number of Doctors and researchers that this does not have to be so, that it can not only be reversed but also prevented. For those interested in Preventative Health Drs Greger, Esselstyne and Ornish are three people with many years experience with unbiased research on the subject. Dr Neal Barnard tells us that in terms of quality of health a Whole Food Plant Based diet is the equivalent of giving up smoking.

20.01.2022 Good health is so much more than the absence of disease. To create optimum health it is essential we know that we are here to enjoy life, to relish simple pleasures, to be in tune with our bodies, connecting with each other and the earth. Our bodies are truly amazing as they strive to stay balanced. Cells in our brains, blood vessels and lungs can produce a gas called Nitric Oxide when triggered by laughter, pleasurable experiences, eating fruits and vegetables(all high in ...antioxidents) meditating and whilst exercising. The more we create and release Nitic Oxide the more our blood vessels will soften, become more flexible and widen so circulation improves. So here is another process available to us which can contribute to our ability to avoid serious illness and disease. COMMIT TO MEMORY: Experiencing pleasure is crucial for vibrant health

18.01.2022 I was recently asked what being Vegan did for me in my life and my reply was this: My lifelong passion has been for preventative health, I live a Whole Food Plant Based Lifestyle as a way to achieve superior health and healing. This lifestyle extends way beyond the individual in terms of a positive impact on the environment and protection of all sentient beings. It is uplifting day after day and my best decision more than five years ago.

12.01.2022 I have been absent from this page for some time whilst putting energy in to dealing with the after effects of the vicious virus In the process I have learned much. Firstly I longed for a high fever to burn it to speed the healing as it does in younger people. I learned that as we age we rarely if ever have fevers so healing takes much longer. A rather long and frustrated convalescence followed by some form of chronic fatigue has been a challenge. Now happily on the mend assisted by a little Reishi Mushroom every day. Reishi(Ganoderma Lucidem) known throughout the Orient as the mushroom of immortality and held in the highest regard by Taoist herbalists and longevity enthusiasts around the world. Also known as the primary Shen(spirit) tonic the world over, and is revered for bringing peace to body mind and spirit

Preventative health and drugless healing has been my lifelong passion which has taken me on an amazing journey and continues which I am thrilled to share with you all.

10.01.2022 Wishing Everyone the very best for this New Year, above all Vibrant health, happiness and peace. If we take good care of ourselves, we help everyone. We stop being a source of suffering in the world and we become a reservoir of joy and freshness. - Thich Nhat Hanh-

04.01.2022 Our arteries at age 90 ought to work as well as at age 9....so says Dr Caldwell Esselstyne who has the ambitious goal to annihilate heart disease....this when the ten year findings of a Cardio Vascular Health Study Project concluded " All males over the age of 65 exposed to a traditional western diet have cardio vascular disease" There is no reason to expect the results would be any different if it had been women taking part in the study. A Whole Food Plant Based Lifestyle has demonstrated time and time again to prevent and reverse this biggest killer in the western world,

04.01.2022 We have long been informed by numerous Health Care Professionals that the basic cause of all chronic disease, including cancer is cellular inflammation. From a dietary perspective we also know that all animal derived foodstuffs create acidity in the body, which then leads to inflammation. We have also long known that disease is not created in an alkaline system. Those of us passionate about preventative health work to maintain a good alkaline balance and it really is not dif...ficult to do. Following a Whole Food Plant Based lifestyle is the easiest way I know. The rewards are enormous when we take responsibility for our own health.....it is said that the best doctor in the room is our own body so getting to know it well and working to support it to achieve superior health is essential. "If we take care of ourselves, we help everyone. We stop being a source of suffering in the world, we become a reservoir of joy and richness" Thich Nhat Hanh

02.01.2022 More than 8 weeks ago I went down with a vicious virus, diagnosed as Influenza A which I brought home from the U S. It seems to have left me with a form of chronic fatigue, therefore knowing the benefits of fasting I have just completed a three day fast. In an attempt to finally clear my body of the residues left by this illness. Some of the benefits of fasting are:... Insulin levels drop and human growth hormone increases. Our cells initiate important cellular repair processes and change which genes they express. Our metabolism is boosted slightly so it is an excellent tool to lose weight and belly fat. It can reduce insulin resistance and lower blood pressure levels. It can reduce oxidative damage and inflammation in the body. This should have benefits against aging and development of numerous diseases. Can improve numerous risk factors for heart disease such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglycerides and inflammatory markers. It triggers a pathway called autophagy which removes waste material from cells. May have important benefits for brain health. It may increase growth of new neurons and protect the brain from damage.

02.01.2022 When diet and lifestyle are my only means of attaining and sustaining health and well being, the most important decision each day is what I will put in my body. At each meal we have the opportunity to support and maintain superior health or to hinder it. A whole food plant based lifestyle has proven to sustain me in every way. Remembering also that every excess pound of weight becomes five pounds for our knees. -Kookie Natural Health Nut-
