23.01.2022 Christmas parties, dinners, squeals of excitement Christmas Day - while this is all part and parcel of Christmas time antics. We mustn't forget that this can be extremely stressful for our pets. It’s important to remember that even the friendliest, most patient dog or cat can become a danger when stressed, particularly to children so be mindful of your pet and how they are coping during the height of activity. Tips to help your pets this Christmas period:... - Create a ''safe space'' in a part of the house that is cool and calm where your pet can retreat to if they begin to feel overwhelmed with too many people or sounds. - Pay attention to your pet’s body language and if you notice your pet showing signs of anxiety including excessive yawning and lip licking in dogs take them away to their ''safe space'' so they can relax. - Try not to spoil your pet too much with human food , no matter how much they might be begging for it! This can upset their stomachs and can be toxic to their overall health. If your pet already displays heightened anxiety, our clinic has options such as Feliway and Adaptil that can assist your pet in feeling calm. Just ask our friendly team.

21.01.2022 Scarlett telling us she is ready to go home! Scarlett had her sterilisation procedure this week and had an umbilical hernia repair as well. Umbilical hernia's are holes in the abdominal wall that allow fat and organs (usually intestines) to push through.... Umbilical hernia's can be repaired at any stage, but we often will repair them at the same time as sterilisation. If you notice a lump on your pets belly and it becomes hard, painful and/or increases in size then a vet check is recommended.
