23.01.2022 This ad was conceived and written by Alex France - a co-founder and creative partner at Vitamin X while employed at John Bevins (famous for its long copy ads). The ad targeted country males. The visual was so cut through (ahem no pun intended) and results so successful that the government ran it 2-years longer than the normal 3-year contract.

22.01.2022 Thanks to social media portals like Facebook and it's vastly improved functionality everyone can create with ease, which makes it tough for those of us who have trained professionally and spent our whole lives dedicated to original thinking. Someone has even suggested we forget the title "Creative Director" and change it to "Head of thought". I hope you find some of our campaigns of interest. They weren't designed to win creative awards, we have enough of those. They were designed to engage a specific target audience from multiple touchpoints and generate leads, raise funds or inspire behaviour change.

22.01.2022 BUSINESS 2 BUSINESS: Aiming for an emotional connection with financial advisers. BRIEF: Challenger invests heavily in tools and services that help make life easier for the financial advisers who write its products. The Challenger team wanted to raise awareness of their commitment to this high level support, and to encourage engagement and use of the tools.... CHALLENGE: Research showed that advisers felt they already knew Challenger. Wed need to find a new way to cut through and connect if we were to have any chance of getting the message across. OUTCOMES: We generated 7 distinctly different creative directions that explored the interplay of imagery, content and tone of voice. Despite being a complex communications problem, this helped the Challenger team quickly triangulate on a preferred solution: a strong analogy for the type of relationship they were offering to advisers. Building on this, we developed a visual approach that elevated the communication out of the literal and onto a lateral level that was warm and emotionally engaging. This also represented a break with the tired, stock-shot driven conventions of the category, helping to cut through the competitive clutter and make it clear that Challenger had something new to say. www.vitaminx.com.au

18.01.2022 NFP 2 COMMUNITY Leave A Donation Appeal. Centennial Parklands Foundation. BRIEF... The Cennential Parklands was hosting a major concert by Jack Johnson. As part of the deal, Jack offered stand space within the concert area to 12 charities and offered to match any donations dollar for dollar. We were briefed to help the Centennial Parklands Foundation take advantage of the opportunity. CHALLENGE We were competing with 11 other worthy causes right next door. Oh, and Jack Johnson stipulated that he didnt want any printed material on the stands or handed out! SOLUTION Wed already developed an umbrella fundraising idea for the Foundation (the Seven Leaves campaign) so we built on this for the concert. Faced with the ban on paper, we focused on generating buzz to attract people to the stand. The idea: A leaf necklace. We sourced a biodegradable material to act as the cord (raffia), researched knots and identified one that would hold the leaves vertically, and created a mini-site and a rubber stamp. The Parklands team picked hundreds of Moreton Bay Fig leaves, attached the raffia and stamped the back of each leaf with the Seven Leaves URL. Jack came around and got one, and within an hour queues were forming as word spread, making the Parklands stand the most popular at the show by far.

If the answer is yes, go back to your agency and get them to differentiate your brand from everyone else. Whether it be a unique positioning or distinctive brand assets, preferably both. 05.01.2022 When a local school said they had a problem at pick up and drop off time, Vitamin X put up their hand to help. Children were in real danger running between cars and traffic because parents were double parking because of the lack of space. Vitamin X suggested a simple piece of communication, a poster. We researched the traffic rules as no one seemed to understand the official parking sign. Thats when we created the "Kiss & Go" posters.... The one in the photo is really old and faded as we created it when our daughter was in Kindy. But the message is there, and it changed the behaviour of parents. The first day it was put up we saw more parents kissing their kids goodbye than ever. The poster was intentionally made to be childlike, and the cartoon characters were drawn wearing the schools uniform with a simple and positive directive "Kiss then go". We then received requests from several schools in Sydney and a couple in Auckland to create one for them too. We offer this service free as a community service, changing the uniform and logo each time, so it is a personal message from the school and the fellow pupils rather than some negative anonymous traffic sign to misunderstand or ignore. 01.01.2022 A NEW SYMBOL OF HOPE CREATED BY VITAMIN X. PRO BONO WORK. "To reduce our reliance on Government funding, the CPSA is reaching out to charitable trusts and foundations who may be willing to support our work. As part of this initiative, we have refreshed our logo to better communicate what we stand for. This work has been done for us completely free of charge by the good people at Vitamin X Creative. Our wonderful new logo still features the NSW state flower, so it respects our... long history." PR release by CPSA Combine Pensioners & Superannuants Association of NSW inc Its easy doing work for popular charities with cute animals or kids. But what about the others? This is why we gave our time pro bono. The work involved creating the new logo, a new positioning line, print ads, banner ads, stationary, business cards, and other advertising material. We also hosted Free thinking sessions where we invited professionals from different areas of marketing expertise to offer their experience/advice to CPSA.
