16.01.2022 Friday 18th of October is Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) Awareness Day. What is DLD? DLD is when a child or adult has difficulties speaking and/or understanding language in the absence of any other medical conditions.... How common is DLD? 1 in 14 children have a DLD; and around 2 children in every classroom. Impact of DLD? DLD can significantly impact upon literacy, learning, friendships, and emotional wellbeing. Where to find support for DLD? Support from professionals such as speech pathologists and teachers can make a real difference!

14.01.2022 An update from the Vita Speech Team We'd like you to know that we are here to support you, our valued clients and families, during this period of transition. . The Vita Speech clinic is still open for individual sessions, and we have implemented extra measures to ensure your health and safety. These measures include:... Hand sanitisers made available throughout the clinic Disinfecting all rooms and surfaces throughout the day Cleaning of all toys and equipment used Therapists will continue to sanitise tables after each session Following social distancing protocols Our therapists and clients are asked not to attend the clinic if they are unwell We ask that additional parents/carers/siblings wait in the car to avoid crowding in the waiting room . We are also offering speech therapy sessions via telehealth (telepractice) to all suitable clients and their families. 11.01.2022 Did you know 22nd of October is International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD). Stuttering is a speech disorder that causes interruptions in the rhythm or flow of speech . It is relatively common and affects approximately 1% of the general population. The best thing that you can do to support people who stutter is by listening to them, and allowing them to finish their sentences . Remember, Every Voice Matters ...
