20.01.2022 As we start to adapt to our new normal, create changes for ourselves, family and community, It is a reminder that not all change needs to of a negative nature. The current global crisis has certainly been a change, not only to our health, but our lifestyles, who we see and cannot spend time with, what we do and how we do it. If nothing else use this time as reflection, rest, recuperation, refocusing and resetting new goals and new habits. Rest is physically necessary so t...hat the muscles can repair, rebuild, and strengthen. Building in rest days can help maintain a better balance between home, work, and fitness goals. Rest and relaxation reduces stress and improves overall health. You'll be able to easily work a full day. Improves your focus: An active mind gets tired just like an active body. 13.01.2022 I am excited to announce the re-opening of Vita Therapy. As of Wednesday 1st July Vita Therapy will be back in business at RBT Williamstown. Over the coming weeks I will be advising on new operating hours and health and safety protocols that are in place, in what will be a newly re-furbished space, which I cant wait to share. ... A new website in conjunction with a new booking system will be in place shortly, as soon is this is fully functional and ready to roll out I will let you all know. 07.01.2022 One of my favourite things to do is be creative, particularly in the kitchen, weather its with food or making my own skincare. Years ago I studied Western Herbal Medicine and part of the course curriculum was manufacturing, where we learnt how to make and create effective and safe plant based skin care, medicinal or otherwise. As my passion grew deeper into masssge therapy I wanted to create a product for my clients that was safe and effective and I knew exactly what was go...ing into the product. As I build my foundations with Vita Therapy its important that not only the hands on sessions for my clients are healing, but also the products I use on my clients. Im just having fun in the kitchen at the moment, enjoying some play time and being creative again and seeing what products could work in the near future. 07.01.2022 STRETCHING // Without it, muscles shorten and become tight and then when we ask them to perform they can be weak and unable to extend all the way, thus potentially incurring injury to both muscle and joint. Regular stretching... - Increases flexibility - Range of motion - Performance - Blood flow to muscles - Strong and healthy You don’t need to stretch every single muscle group everyday, setting aside 5mins at the end of a day or pre/post training session and targeting 2-3 muscle groups and mindfully working into each stretch/pose for anything between 15-60 seconds can be hugely beneficial. Obviously this all depends on your current flexibility and the frequency you perform your stretching. It's like anything, consistency and routine. If we make it part of daily routine it becomes second nature, furthermore I personally find it to be very relaxing, it may be nice to take yourself to a quiet corner of the house or space you’re in, take 5 minutes for yourself and stretch the limbs and quiet the mind. Here are some of my personal favourites and go to stretches/poses 1. Downward dog 2. Child's pose 3. Malasana pose 4. Standing forward bend 5. Seated forward bend 6. 03.01.2022 What are knots in the Muscle? The medical term for knots is Myofascial trigger points. They are small bump-like areas of the muscle. Knots (Myofascial trigger points) occur when muscle fibres or fascia tense and tighten caused by stress, tension, repetitive motion and poor posture.
