22.01.2022 The moments we exist for. A tear jerking moment when we finished a top teeth rehabilitation and revealed a new smile. 15.01.2022 FAREWELL This week we have to say goodbye to our beautiful Practice Manager, Josie, as she is about to start a new chapter of her life by becoming a mum! Josie has been with us for a year and a half now, filling our reception area with lots of laughs and smiles. We celebrated the beginning of her new life with a surprise dinner and of course some very naughty (but delicious) chocolate cake. ... Words can’t describe how much our team will miss her, as she is a valuable member to our little Dental family. 14.01.2022 Baby Ben is 7mths old and got his first chomper. Good time to chat about when to clean. Start cleaning baby's teeth when they appear (6 months). You can use a baby brush or even some clean clothe. At 18 months start using a pea sized amount of low-fluoride toothpaste to brush your child's teeth. Encourage your child to spit out toothpaste after brushing, but not rinse. Clean all surfaces of the teeth and gums twice a day (after breakfast and before bed).

07.01.2022 DO YOU KNOW THE THREE LAYERS OF TOOTH? We thought we'd use this photo to explain a few situations we see on a daily basis when it comes to decay and holes in teeth. As you can see, there are three layers of tooth:... 1. The white, hard, outside layer is enamel. 2. The yellow, softer, second layer is dentine. 3. And the inside of the tooth is the nerve. If decay is only in the outside layer, we can attempt to harden it by keeping the area nice and clean and applying a cream called Tooth Mousse Plus. If decay has reached the second layer, it unfortunately needs to be removed and filled, but it's a nice, easy process. If we unfortunately don't catch it early enough and it's reached the third layer, treatment involves either root canal treatment to save it or you can decide to have the tooth removed. Patients often present in pain in this circumstance. The vast majority of decay we see starts in between the teeth, and that's where regular flossing to keep the area nice and clean is the best preventive measure. Given that this is where most decay starts, but we can't physically see it in this area with the naked eye until it is quite large, it is so important that we take regular x-rays to catch things when they're only small. We use a completely digital system, so the radiation dose is incredibly low, which is a win-win. So many people don't think about seeing the dentist until they're in pain, and we're of course here to help if you find yourself in this situation. At the same time and as the saying goes, prevention is the best cure. If it's been a while since you or a loved one has been, it could be worthwhile having everything looked at to make sure nothing's happening
