15.01.2022 Nourishing Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup At Seedling Cafe soups are one of our staples through the winter and we have just started serving soups again in store along with our new winter menu full of warm, nourishing meals. Here is one of the customer favourites for you to try at home! The chilli is optional but it does give it a lovely warming effect on these wintery days. ... I love this soup, especially on a cold day. Because it contains carbs from the sweet potato it makes a great dinner post workout. INGREDIENTS 1 onion 2 cloves of garlic 1 red chilli (or more depending how spicy you like it!) 2Tbsp olive or coconut oil 600g Sweet Potato 5cm of fresh ginger root (peeled) 500ml of good quality chicken stock 270ml can of coconut cream Salt and Pepper to taste METHOD To make this soup start by dicing the onion and finely chopping the garlic, chilli and ginger. Heat oil in a pot and add the onion, followed by the chilli, garlic and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion starts to turn golden brown. Dice sweet potato and add to the pot along with chicken stock and Boil for 10-15 minutes until the sweet potato is soft. Allow to cool slightly before adding coconut cream. Using a stick blender or nutri bullet blend soup until smooth. Pour back into the pot and reheat (being careful not to boil as it will split the coconut cream.) Season to taste. Serve with fresh coriander, chopped chilli and thick slices of good quality bread. This soup can also be frozen so you could double the recipe and freeze half for another day. I hope you enjoy it.

07.01.2022 Here's a word from our team coach @danni10101 from @runlikeagirlaustralia about Mike’s running challenges. Mike has been a part of the Viva Physiotherapy team for a just over a year now. His goal for the Miles for Minds campaign was to run 5km comfortably and pain-free following a patella tendinopathy injury which he sustained simply by progressing his running too quickly. His long term goal is to build to 8-10km by the beginning of 2021. When Mike and I chatted, he openly sh...ared that he’s had an on and off-again relationship with running and put more focus into running during #covid19 lockdown. Like Mike, many of us have used this time to turn to run given that gyms and fitness centres have been shut down for the better part of 2020. The one thing that has commonly suffered is our strength. Injuries have mostly been with beginner or intermediate runners who have started with no or little strength load, suboptimal technique, and/or training outside the overload principle. Mike also shone a light on the type of running injuries he sees in the clinic: - Myofascial pain - Gluteal tendinopathies - Calf/soleus overload NEW RUNNERS commonly suffer from calf, knee and/or back pain. This is often TECHNIQUE BASED and relies on load management with a STRENGTH FOCUS under the guide of your #physiotherapist. Mike and I also got lost in conversation about #pain and the understanding of pain. The most common statement comes from those with a poorer perception of pain I have a high pain threshold. Culture and history have led us down a path where we think pain equals strength and greater tolerance. This is very misleading but should be used as a tool for #injuryprevention. Learning to understand pain can help you and your PHYSIOTHERAPIST recognise whether the problem is topical, structural or tissue related. This is a great opportunity for runners to be in tune with the sensations experienced during and outside of training, learning to read the danger signals in maximising INJURY #PREVENTION. The next step is to GET A DIAGNOSIS where the problem is properly identified, a rehabilitative plan is designed just for you to address the areas to improve and rebuild. Mike’s current focus is on his pre-run drills, developing quadratus and isometric strength, and post-run mobility. Challenge yourself, join us this Saturday on Miles for Minds.

That is what we did last Saturday, as part of our Viva community we decide to embrace our values and help those that need special attention during difficult times. Our Viva community became banded together and raised $4,336, every cent of which will be donated to @preventionunided. This is way beyond our expectations and we thank you very much for your support. We can wait to do it all over again next year.
