25.01.2022 Meetings- who holds the conch? We all know a good meeting- where decisions are made and where stuff happens. Sometimes it helps to discuss what you like and don’t like about the meetings. Sometimes a helpful stage prop like this conch can sort out the issue of people talking over each other or even stronger voices drowning out those with a disability or with different culture. Try experimenting with ways to ensure you hear all the voices at meetings...

25.01.2022 Are storm clouds brewing? Are you ready to address employee complaints or misconduct? What policies do you have in place and are you consistent in their application? How about Social Media - do staff know what you expect? Sometimes it is easier to ignore little problems (surely they are grown-ups and can sort this out themselves?). The silly season is just around the corner. Dust off your policies about staff functions and alcohol. And while you are there don't forget your emergency procedures for natural disasters.

18.01.2022 NOW is the time to look at your Cyclone Policy/ Extreme weather event policy. This should let staff know what is expected of them should a Cyclone watch be declared. When things progress to a Cyclone warning what are the practical considerations about office closure; notifying staff and customers; preparing your business? Then what about recovery? It also doesn't hurt to review your insurance cover to get an idea of what is covered should the business be closed for an extended period due to damage or power outage.

18.01.2022 COVID 19 This is a challenging time for business. Hopefully everyone is taking care of themselves and their staff. It is heartening to see all those businesses that have been able to quickly adapt. Also many others are taking the time to plan for life after COVID. None of it is easy....
