02.01.2022 *Teeth Whitening* We get asked every day about teeth whitening and the best way to achieve the results you're after. Personally, I prefer custom take home whitening to in chair whitening as the results are the same, if not better and it's half the price In fact, at the 6 month mark, custom take home is shown to out perform in chair results! We use 2 different products, Opalescence which is arguably the best available on the market world wide or Pola White which we are still... testing but the results have been impressive. My personal preference is Opalescence and I've been using it for years. The best thing about custom take home is you can touch up whenever you want and if you're a red wine/coffee drinker like myself that's a very good thing! You also have control over how white you go and managing any sensitivity you may have. The most important thing to remember is CONSISTENCY IS KEY to achieving the results you want. Once you've gotten through your first round of whitening (anywhere from 5 - 14 applications) it takes about 2 years to drop all the way back. As a general rule, if you pop your trays in once every 6 months or so you'll maintain your new shade and never have to go through the long process again. Each individual's results may differ, it depends on the composition of your teeth and how responsive they are to whitening, but with a dentist we will help tailor your whitening plan and give you advice on how to achieve the results you are after. A dentist is also able to provide prescription grade whitening product which isn't available elsewhere meaning you get the highest grade product available. At Vivid Smiles we do all our own lab work as all our staff are fully qualified, we have increased our staffing recently so turnaround time for your custom trays is now much faster, usually within 2 days.
