25.01.2022 A lovely lighthearted performance of Christopher Norton’s The Whimsy from our first recital of 2021.

23.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! This term I said a very fond farewell to this student who is off to pursue electronic music production - totally not my skill set! We have had a wonderful journey together and I believe I have nurtured enough of an appreciation for music that he will continue learning on his own terms. I think it’s absolutely fine to enjoy more than one teacher in our musical journeys!

23.01.2022 Goodbye old piano - hello new piano!!!!! Much thanks to Slip Stream and Australian Piano Warehouse for their awesome service

22.01.2022 A great start to our final term - celebrating exam passes with Distinctions and handing out repertoire certificates - one to a little 4 year old & a whopping 150 piece milestone reached for another keen student!

22.01.2022 What a wonderful way to listen to Beethoven! Winthrop Hall by candlelight concerts!

21.01.2022 We’re all Top C Turvy today preparing for tomorrow’s Global Making Music day with our first on line recitals - family & friends from near and far are joining us on line to celebrate students half term efforts! Here’s a little preview from a student who recently passed her first AMEB exam during COVID via video submission - https://youtu.be/ztW_3oUWElk

21.01.2022 Enjoy this lovely performance of Emily's Song by Australian composer Mark Matthews. This student just gained an A+ for her Grade 5 exam with this rendition and has now been invited to play at the Government House Gardens at a public event. Pretty cool!

20.01.2022 Flowers from a happy year 12 student who gets to add a Grade 5 piano exam to her final WACE statement of achievement. Students with goals who aspire to improve always seem to surprise themselves!

20.01.2022 10 years ago I started my journey as a piano teacher with this student (my daughter - I made all my biggest mistakes with her). No longer a piano student (that was just too hard!) here she is preparing for her Grade 6 flute exam playing a beautiful duet. Despite our many battles she admits that her early years at piano have led her into singing in specialist choirs, playing bass guitar in a rock band and playing flute at a fairly high level. Many of my other students are now following in her footsteps and discovering a world of musical opportunities which have been sparked off by playing piano. I am so proud of every single one of them!

18.01.2022 This is me in a nutshell!

15.01.2022 Happy 16th birthday to one of my first ever students - still working with me 8 years later. What a privilege to enjoy watching her grow up. She comes to lessons through thick and thin, she has a keen brain and a solid determination to do well. She also knows her own mind - our lessons together are never dull! Happy birthday Daisy

14.01.2022 We’re ready for Term 3 - looking forward to continuing working with all my students. These young ladies earned their 75 piece certificate last term!

12.01.2022 Make Music Day 2020 has been celebrated in our studio with our first series of on line recitals - it was a very different experience but included family & friends from Japan & UK so it was kinda special. Enjoy this performance of Sunday Morning Revival - a great rendition of gospel jazz ! #makemusicday https://youtu.be/mnTxlL37720

09.01.2022 My student Abbie passed her Grade 6 piano exam recently with an outstanding A+ only to learn a week later that one of the composers sadly passed away. It makes this sparkling performance quite bittersweet for us. Congratulations Abbie I’m glad Sonny was able to inspire you so greatly with his awesome music.

09.01.2022 Final exam masterclass of 2020. It’s great to finish exams in term 3 so we can enjoy year end preparations in Term 4. Now the nervous wait for results.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to this hard working student who was invited this week to play at an outdoor lunchtime concert at the Government House Gardens - she managed to dodge the rain & gave a lovely rendition of the Theme from Jurassic Park. Mascot Barnaby Ted enjoyed another outing too!

07.01.2022 This has to be the happiest first lesson I have ever spent - despite an injured arm nothing stopped this little one being my final starter for 2021. Using the method Music Moves for Piano, based on extensive research into music learning theory, this is going to make our musical journey together a very enjoyable one.

05.01.2022 It’s exam season - these students all excelled in their exams ranging from Preliminary to Grade 3 with grades A or A + including a sibling combo! I love how their smiles going in are as wide as the smiles afterwards. This year has been really tough keeping lessons going but these guys have really persevered & earned great rewards. Studio mascot Barnaby Ted enjoyed the outings too!

04.01.2022 Boy were we lucky to have our group lessons over the school break before having to consider Zoom lessons again. This time students got to play their second instruments to other students as well as the piano - that was both fun and impressive!

02.01.2022 10/10 for effort by these students despite their injuries they keep coming to lessons no matter what! Hope they get better soon.....
