11.01.2022 This is a post I placed on LinkedIn regarding gossip - Mia GOSSIP We need to shut it down! In a professional, business environment, if someone tells you personal information about a person, or puts them down, you must wonder what motivates them to do so. Are they insecure? Paranoid? Unhappy? Jealous? Or are they trying to seek revenge or control over that person? Why else would somebody speak maliciously of others?!... And is it any of your business? Is it fair that you believe the stories or lies and form an opinion of the victim based on that information? Surely everybody has the right to respect, and the opportunity to show you their capabilities, without their efforts being influenced by gossip. And is it right to further spread the gossip and harm someone who has not had the opportunity to defend themselves? By doing so, you are aiding someone to harm another person. Is this the type of person you want to be? If somebody within your industry spreads gossip, it might be time to find your voice and tell them you’re not interested in hearing it, and even re-evaluate your relationship with them. Their attacks on their victims are counterproductive, bullying and a waste of time. Do you need that? Soap operas are for TV - not the workplace. #respectothers #bullying #abuseprevention See more

10.01.2022 I grew up and lived in bushfire areas most of my life. I’ve recently become a ‘city slicker’, but I will never forget the intense feeling of ‘community’ when these tragedies strike. It’s a special, supportive bond that’s difficult to describe. As I was on an extended break from the industry, I missed the opportunity to express my thankfulness. I would like to express my gratitude for the efforts of fire, police, ambulance, wildlife offers, volunteer organisations, and the pu...blic and companies that donated money and goods. The impact of the 2020 fires is still being felt by the residents and victims’ families, and our emergency services personnel, and communities are slowly rebuilding (complicated by Covid), but I know human spirit will prevail. - Mia
