25.01.2022 Greetings members, followers and other interested parties. Well it has taken us a while to get there, but get there we did! Commencing this Monday night, 5th October at 1930Hrs, we will be bringing back our face to face meetings at the clubhouse. Under the easing of restrictions as issued by QLD Health Movement and Gathering Directive (No. 4) 02 September 2020 at 11.30am, we are now permitted to hold meetings inside our clubhouse, as long as the number of attendees is under 3...0! We will still have in place all the required measures such as Contact Listing forms, hand sanitisation, disposable wipes, disposable towels, Glen-20 spray, COVID-19 signage and posters and seating to enable social distancing as required. So this Monday night, 5th October at 1930Hrs we will be kicking off with our social gathering of the DMR/Digital Interest group. If you have an interest in anything digital, DMR, Fussion, DStar, FT8, JT65 or any off the other multitude of digital modes, you are more than welcome to attend and share your knowledge or gather some knowledge! The following Monday night, 12th October at 1930Hrs will be our normal monthly social meeting of our club members. Nothing has been set for this night as yet, but that could change at a moment’s notice. Then following on from that, will be our normal monthly business meeting which will be held on Monday night, 26th October at 1930Hrs. Hopefully this trend of face to face will continue and the easing of restrictions will continue. But as always, should the situation take a turn for the worse and restrictions come back into force, we will drop back to our Zoom meetings as required. Hope to see you all somewhere face to face over the next few months. Regards and 73 to all.

21.01.2022 Until further notice all meetings of the IDRC. are suspended.
18.01.2022 The IADRC as it now stands today, thanks to the efforts of MANY people! It will stand for another 50 years!
17.01.2022 Greetings members and other interested parties! Well 2020 is quickly coming to a close, and finally things are easing off when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions. After last nights September Business meeting, and in accordance with QLD Health Movement and Gathering Directive (No. 4), we are now permitted to have gatherings of up to 30 people in our clubhouse. So effective as of next month, all meetings will now be held at the clubrooms. The next DMR/Digital Interest Group meet...ing will be on Monday 5th October starting at 1930Hrs. If you have an interest in Digital radio, DMR or any of the other digital modes, you are very welcome to attend and add your knowledge to our group discussion and gathering. The next Social Meeting will be on Monday 12th October at 1930Hrs. There is nothing set at this point in time, but that could very well change over the next week or two! The next Business Meeting will then be on Monday 26th October at 1930Hrs. I hope to be able to see all your smiling faces again at any of the mentioned meetings. It will be good to get out and about again! As required, at all meetings at the clubhouse we will have a COVID-19 Contact Register, to keep a track of all attendees, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, and we will still be applying social distancing rules wherever practicable. Take care, stay safe, look after one another and RADIO ON!
11.01.2022 The club's recent net with our Canadian sister club has garnered some international media attention with an article on the Amateur Radio Newsline. The article was published in their Friday May 15th edition. It can currently be heard at: https://www.arnewsline.org//amateur-radio-newsline-report-... A full copy of the article is copied below. The club would like to extend a special 'thank you' to the AR Newsline (https://www.arnewsline.org/) for the recognition. ** RADIO FRIENDSHIP REKINDLED FROM CANADA TO AUSTRALIA DON/ANCHOR: Our next story isn't about social distancing. It's about social DXing, something very different in the world of amateur radio. Here's John Williams VK4JJW with that story. JOHN: A friendly connection formed in 2011 between the Maple Ridge Amateur Radio Club and the Ipswich and District Radio Club in Australia, could have remained a forgotten sisterhood of clubs but that apparently was not destined to be. Though the relationship had faded over time and distance, Maple Ridge webmaster Dave VA7DBJ found it was still being mentioned on the club's website. He pursued a reawakening of the friendship by contacting Greg VK4GJW, secretary of the Ipswich club in Australia. The two agreed to try to connect the clubs again. In early April, the British Columbia, Canada hams reconnected with their mates in the Ipswich club Down Under with each group utilising their own IRLP-linked repeater. It was a net of some 26 amateurs with Paul VA7XQ as net control. Two and a half hours later, the friendship was rekindled. Dave and Greg said that lockdown from the pandemic surely helped to rejuvenate the bonds between the clubs and the connections have been going strong since then. Ipswich hams now check in to the Maple Ridge club's weekly Net on IRLP and there are ongoing contacts during the week between individuals hams -- and new friendships are being formed. For Amateur Radio Newsline I'm John Williams VK4JJW. Copied from the Maple Ridge Amateur Radio Club Facebook page with minor editing.
11.01.2022 Greetings members and others. Over the weekend of the 7/8th November, the Ipswich & District Radio Club WICEN Group, participated in providing safety communication checkpoints for the Guzzler Ultra Marathon. In all, 6 checkpoints were manned along the courses for the 50km and 100km events. Many thanks to all who helped man and woman the checkpoints along the way. Your efforts were greatly appreciated. All went very well, with a few minor communication issues, which were worked around. Overall the organisers were very happy with our efforts. Again thank you to those who did the long overnight stints. See you all again next year in July!
09.01.2022 We have started back at the club with the Digital Radio interest group on the first Monday of every month commencing at 1930Hrs. If you have an interest in digital radio you are most welcome.
09.01.2022 At the moment our social meetings are being held on zoom until further notice.
08.01.2022 Greeting members and other interested partys. Nothing significant to report here and just hoping that you are all safe, healthy and STAYING HOME! The Social Distancing aspect of this whole COVID-19 pandemic is VERY important, so I do hope that you are all practicing that, and avoiding going out unless it is really necessary. Some of you may be aware, but for those that dont know, the suite of batteries at the Knobby, have all been replaced with new batterys! The last lot of f...our, lasted us nearly 15 years, and hopefully the new ones will do similar time! The old ones have already found new homes! Other than that, use this time to get on the radio, chase that DX, chat to other hams, and finish those projects you started ages ago. Stay safe, stay healthy, and we will get through this crisis like we have all the others! Amateur Radio - Practicing Social Distancing for OVER 100 years!

06.01.2022 Greetings members and other interested viewers! Well we have come to that time of the year again when our AGM is due to happen. At this stage, we are planning to hold our AGM on Saturday 22nd August, commencing at 1000Hrs. Whether this event will be physically at the Clubrooms or online on Zoom, has yet to be determined. But as soon as we have made the decision, I will again post on here to let all of you know. If you have not received your notice of the AGM via email, please let me know and I will ensure that one is sent or made available to you. I trust you are all well, healthy and continuing to stay virus free. Amateur Radio - Practicing Social Distancing for over 100 years! We are experts at it!
05.01.2022 JOTA 2020 - Well JOTA 2020 has been and gone, and as a club we finally got back into it again. We welcomed 10 members from the Jindalee Venturers group yesterday, and a good time was had by all. Contacts were made via VHF, IRLP, DMR, HF and the Internet via 2 laptops (JOTI). The group was very well behaved and showed a good interest in all that they participated in. I think there may be some prospective Foundation candidates among them, but only time will tell. But all in all a good day. Many thanks to Bob VK4RJ, Don K4KO, Peter VK4SIR, Kevin VK4KK and Eric VK4BBK (Venturer Leader) for their assistance in running the event. I am sure we will do it again next year, bigger and better, having learnt a few lessons from this year. Rgards to all and 73.
04.01.2022 IADRC members may or may not be aware that we have a sister club in Canada, the Maple Ridge Amateur Radio Club. In the past few days I was contacted by their Webmaster, and asked if we were interested in reinvigorating our friendship with them, during this time of home isolation during the ongoing pandemic. Of course I said we would absolutely love to. To that end, I have sent all members an email regarding this and a copy of the club membership of the MRARC. We have organise...d to meet up with each other on our clubs IRLP Repeater tommorow afternoon at 1300Hrs AEST, VK4RAI 438.425MHz Neg Offset with a 123.0Hz tone for access. So if your free, come along, meet some new hams, make some new friends, and have a chat. There will be a Net Controler for this event initially, so when asked, please call in with your callsign. Remeber to leave at least 5-10 second gap between overs, and allow for the lag that is associated with these types of communications. :-)
04.01.2022 Well we have just finished a very enjoyable two and half hours talking to our sister club members at Maple Ridge Amateur Radio Club in BC Canada. I wont list the nearly 20 members from MRARC who joined us, but I would like to sincerely thank you all for your attendance and your words. Feedback from my members was VERY positive and we will definitely be doing it all again. Thanks again to all who participated. We all practiced Social Distancing at its most finest! :-)
02.01.2022 Greetings members and other interested parties and lurkers! Well the 2020 AGM has come and gone and we are now into another new year of operation. Lets hope that the next 12 months bears no resemblance to the last 12 month, and the last 6 months in particular! Yesterdays online ZOOM meeting was attended by 19 members and I thank all those who took the time and effort to come online. The outcome of the elections were as follows: Executive Committee Members President - Peter VK...4SIR Vice President - Mark VK4SMA Secretary - Greg VK4GJW Treasurer - Robert VK4HBW Office Bearers Station Manager - Rob VK4AB Contest/QSL Manager - Bob VK4RJ PR Officer - Allan VK4HIT Property Manager - Don VK4KO Training Officer - Greg VK4GJW Webmaster - Unfilled WICEN Officer - Robert VK4HBW JOTA Co-Ordinator - Eric VK4BBK Lets hope that this pandemic goes away and we can all get back to some sense of new normality as soon as possible. Take care people, stay safe and stay healthy. Amateur Radio - Practicing Social Distancing for over 100 years! We are experts at it!
01.01.2022 Greetings members and other interested partys! Well last Monday night, 27th April, saw our club hold their very first Virtual Online Business meeting, and it was a great success! In all, 14 members were able to log online via Zoom, and the meeting was hosted by myslef VK4GJW and Peter VK4SIR from my home QTH. While we are still abiding by the current regualtions about public gatherings, our online meetings will enable us to carry on the Clubs business in a very safe and effic...ient manner, until such time as we can gather again face to face. We will be attempting our first Social meeting next Monday night at 1930Hrs, so I hope that will also go as well as our business meeting did. A topic and presentation is yet to be decided, but if nothing esle, we will at least be able to catch up with one another and swap some stories! I hope you are all well, staying safe and keeping your distance from others! Remeber you Social Distancing and stay at least 146MHz away from others! Cheers for now!
01.01.2022 Greeting members and other interested partys! Well time has marched on and we still find ourselves unable to hold any face to face meetings at the clubhouse. Unfortunately, the 4 square metres per person rule is still in force for organisations such as ours, so with the space in the main meeting room, that only allows us to have a maximum of 10 people! This is a bit restrictive for both Social and Business meetings, so these will continue to be held on Zoom. Hopefully come Au...gust, that may change down to 2 square metres per person, but until then we must play by the rules. As many of you are aware, we will be having our AGM on Saturday 22nd August at 10am. Depending on the rules in force at the time, that may be held outdoors so we can have the maximum attendace possible. Within the next week, the official notice of the upcoming AGM will be sent out to one and all. Attached with that notice will be the nomination forms for the Executive Committee positions. There will also be nominations sought for the other supporting positions as well. PLEASE please take some time to consider who you would like to see in those positions, and where you need to, contact your nominee and chat to them about taking on the position. Remember without people taking on these various positions, the club could be in jeopardy of closing, and that is something none of us want to see happen. None of the positions are hard to fulfill or onerous in anyway, so if you have the time to take one on PLEASE consider doing so. Take care all, stay safe and Radio on! 73 Amateur Radio - We have been practicing Social Distancing for over 100 years! We are experts at it!
