25.01.2022 A group of AREG members gathered today to construct a set of Magnetic Loop direction finding antennas. Everyone is looking to go hunting for interference on HF. These looks are backed up by the EME234 amplifier kit from Minikits here in Adelaide (thanks to Mark VK5EME) and show up to a 40dB null - excellent for hunting interference!

19.01.2022 So who in VK will be active in CQ WW RTTY next weekend? The AREG contest sub-group spent today at our remote site erecting antennas for 80, 40 and 20m (including the A35JT 40m 4-square) and is looking like we will man a M2 station next weekend! Hoping to see a few VK/ZLs on air and for good propagation around the world! See you on the air from 0000z Saturday CQ RTTY RYRYRYRY de VK5ARG

16.01.2022 AREG has, for a number of years now, operated the internet link for VK5RWN via a number of free member provided services. Alas, our last member in 5.8GHz range of VK5RWN (who doesn’t have trees in the way) has left the area. As a result, AREG is now moving the DSTAR internet service to a paid internet service (Kern WiFi) so the VK5RWN D*STAR gateway can continue. The new service was installed on Friday the 4th of September. We hope to complete the remaining network reconfigur...ation work over the next 2-3 days. As soon as thats done, D*STAR network services will be restored. Meanwhile, the VK5RWN D-Star repeater is still fully operational as a local (2m & 70cm) DV repeater. However, as there is no Internet network connectivity at the VK5RWN site, remote linking of repeaters, reflectors and hot spot connectivity is not available. 09.01.2022 COVID-19 has struck the Adelaide area hard and our state government's response has been swift. As the state enters what could only be described as a "CRASH STOP" lock-down for 6 days starting tonight, AREG members who will be locked in their homes will take to the airwaves and activate the WIA's special event call sign VK20HOME. Look for activity on multiple bands and modes from tonight until the 26th of November by AREG members across the state. https://www.areg.org.au/archives/210009
09.01.2022 https://www.areg.org.au/archives/209865 The yearly WIA VK5 QSL Bureau sort for 2020 is now underway covering WIA members in VK5. Considering the reduced opportunities to meet in person this year, this sort will be followed by the once a year mail-out to WIA members of their cards (as included in your WIA membership). It is hoped to send all current VK5 WIA members your QSL cards in the next 4 weeks. Visit the AREG website for more details!
07.01.2022 COVID-19 has made an unwelcome reappearance here in Adelaide. As a result, the state government has tonight mandated that all COVID-Safe events (which includes our in person meetings) have been cancelled for the next 2 weeks. The AREG meeting will now take place exclusively online on Friday night. Members will have access via Zoom while Non-Members will be still able to view the livestream on Youtube. Links and details will be made available shortly! https://www.areg.org.au/archives/210006
