11.01.2022 Haddon Anzac Memorial Bandstand The main visual elements of the structure are derived from the Anzac campaign and the form generally represents Anzac cove as an example. However, the concepts of distance, isolation, difficulties and spirit are presented as common to all service campaigns. The structure is separated from the Australia rock to represent distance and maintain the integrity of the original work. Various paving types are used around the structures: original grass ...and asphalt, sand, exposed aggregate concrete these represent the changes of ocean and terrain types on the journey to distant wars. The wall is a stylized silhouette and enclosing form of the cliffs at Anzac Cove as seen when approached from the ocean. The peak of the wall is the geographical feature known as The Sphinx. The wall leans back to represent the angle of the cliffs. The wall is sandstone with a frame of mechanized steel climbing over. The glass separators give a glimpse of the future beyond. The concrete paving literally represents the narrow sand beach enclosed by the cliff wall. The roof is gumleaf shape and floating over the space. See more
