24.01.2022 Take a peek inside the Vocalocity Singing Studio in Leura! We’re located in Leura Mall on the south side, just past the shops opposite Bloome Park. The health and safety of my students continues to be my top priority. I am committed to doing absolutely everything I can, to the best of my ability, to minimise risks and ensure the safety of all singers in my care.... There is a brand new purpose-built protection screen by the piano, beautifully scented alcohol-based hand sanitiser at the entrance (required to be used by all who enter the studio) and medical grade disposable masks are available should students wish to wear them. 22.01.2022 Online singing lessons are now up and running and can happen from wherever you are! So you might be wondering about the photo? Well, I finished teaching my online singing lessons the other night and then took my dog for a walk. A totally normal thing to do, only I forgot I was wearing pj pants and slippers with my work top and full head of make-up. Oh, the horror, but the people who saw me didn't even bat an eye. 18.01.2022 The 2020 ANATS (Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing) National Conference was held online last weekend. It was a wonderful opportunity for singers, singing teachers and other voice professionals from all across the country (and overseas) to come together to further develop our knowledge and reinvigorate our teaching practices through keynote addresses, research presentations, discussions and social networking. Students of Vocalocity were invited to perform i...n the Welcome Ceremony this year as a follow on from their performances at the last national conference held in the Blue Mountains in 2018. The song the students sang was ‘In The Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins, arranged by Amelia Nell. The first half of the piece featured singers from the Vocalocity vocal ensemble based in Leura who sang at the last conference, and the second half brought in younger singers from both the Blue Mountains and Orange in regional NSW. Like so many vocal groups in Australia and around the world are experiencing, singing together in person is not possible at the moment due to COVID-19. Therefore, the students video recorded their parts individually from home using whatever device they could and then Amelia compiled all the videos together. 16.01.2022 Congratulations to Ruby for her outstanding achievement of an A with Honours result on her recent AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) singing exam!! Yay, Ruby!!

16.01.2022 Vocalocity sing some classic Earth Wind and Fire! ‘Let’s Groove’ was Jay’s (centred in the video) HSC piece. Singing together in person wasn’t possible due to COVID-19, but it was important to all of us to find a way to support Jay (who’s been a member of this group since he was in Year 7!). Everyone recorded their parts separately and Amelia compiled them together. This video was then displayed on a large screen next to Jay while he sang (and rapped!). All Year 12’s finished their final week of school last week - congratulations to you all!!

07.01.2022 Awesome show last night! Went and saw Ben Folds and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at Sydney Town Hall and it was just epic! Stunning music and stellar vocals. Noice.

06.01.2022 UPDATE: Monday 3rd August, 10:20am Based on the advice from NSW Health just released, our small group rehearsals will revert back to virtual online Zoom sessions for the time being. "There is evidence to suggest that group singing (for example in a band, choir or karaoke) is a higher risk activity due to the increased chance of spreading COVID-19 through airborne aerosols.... For this reason, NSW Health recommends at this time that group singing be avoided. Consider having one singer rather than a group. Solo singers should stay at least 3 meters from the audience when singing." - NSW Health I know we're going to have some disappointed young singers as they've been doing so well following our latest COVIDSafe protocols, but of course we need to adhere to the government's advice for the safety and wellbeing of all. These are difficult times and it does say "for the time being" - so don't lose heart lovelies, we will be back! I'll be in touch with each of you soon to make arrangements for virtual sessions. All singers in both Orange and Leura are being absolutely fantastic. Rehearsals for the Leura Vocal Ensemble (nine members aged 15-18) have been a little different with the requirement that everyone wear a mask, no more than four students allowed in the studio at any one time to go over their individual parts, and when it comes time to sing together this occurs outside with proper social distancing measures in place. Thank you again, and well done all!

04.01.2022 We may all be apart at the moment, but nothing can stop us from singing! Here is our Leura Vocal Ensemble’s virtual rendition of ‘Big Bad World’ by The Real Group. This vocal ensemble consists of singers (and beatboxer) aged 18 and under from the Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia. They recorded their individual parts for this song from home due to the social distancing measures currently in place. It’s not easy to sing with energy when you rely on having your fellow group members by your side to work together as a team, so huge kudos to our singers for bringing this together! Well done all!

03.01.2022 LEURA STUDIO UPDATE: 20th March 2020 Singing lessons and Vocal Ensemble rehearsal will go ahead as normal today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday). One-on-one singing lessons will take place inside the studio and the Vocal Ensemble rehearsal will take place outside in the garden. The health and safety of students and their families is my top priority and it is important that everyone takes sensible steps to protect themselves during this time. I am taking every precaution durin...g singing lessons and group rehearsals and I ask for your cooperation in minimising risks also. Students and parents, I will continue to update you on Vocalocity’s approach to the Coronavirus as more information becomes available.
