09.01.2022 This isn't an ideal start to a road trip! Chris Walker and his fiancée Kirsten Lattanzio are Hobart snake catchers who were recently called to an interesting ...job out at Longley. "The driver called us after spotting a snake at his property go into the wheel arch of his car, he looked closer and it had climbed up towards the engine bay!" Because the man was petrified of snakes he jumped in the car and drove off quickly, so that if the snake dropped out it wouldn't be on his property. Chris and Kirsten got the call and met the man in Leslie Vale, who was so scared he wouldn't get out of the car, instead jumping onto his roof racks! After 45 minutes they eventually found the snake hiding in the plastic pipe for the air filter, and were able to relax the car owner after his initial fears. "We managed to get the snake out safely and released it back into the wild with a very happy car owner!" : Chris Walker.

07.01.2022 It certainly was a wild night, Tassie! This car was crushed by a falling tree in the Hobart suburb of Mount Stuart. What are the weather conditions like where... you are? : Edith Bevin for ABC News

02.01.2022 UPDATE: Three whales which have been in Macquarie Harbour for three weeks have been released, after becoming stranded today. A fourth has sadly died. #BREAKING:... Officials are responding to a report of a small pod of pilot whales that have become stranded inside Macquarie Harbour on the state’s West Coast. A single larger whale and three smaller pilot whales are believed to have been swimming in the harbour before the larger whale became stranded yesterday afternoon. While we would consider this stranding part of the same event that resulted in about 460 pilot whales stranding in the area three weeks ago, the whale’s body condition suggests it has been stranded for only a short time," Marine Conservation Program wildlife biologist Sam Thalmann said.
