25.01.2022 Cambodia people - order your lunches from this amazing new business in PP. For every delicious meal you buy they provide a delicious meal to someone in crisis. Supporting them supports us! Its a win win!

24.01.2022 Cambodia Update: Travel from Province to Province is to stop from April 16.

23.01.2022 Many of our clients lost their jobs due to COVID. Without an income, they had no way to buy food, pay rent, pay medical bills, meet loan repayments etc. They turned to Voice for help en masse, requesting to borrow funds to create small businesses enabling them to earn an income. In response, Voice greatly expanded our small business loans/grants program with the hope of helping clients earn an income to get themselves out of crisis and re-establish independence. Out of the cr...isis, we have seen some wonderful successes. Chantra (pictured) received a small business grant from Voice after she lost her job in a factory and was struggling to provide for herself, her daughter, and her newborn granddaughter. She now runs a successful business selling drinks and other small items in the market near her house and she is able to earn enough to provide for the three of them. #resilience #microfinance #smallbusiness #cambodia Donate today to help people like Chantra survive during this crisis. Every dollar helps: https://tinyurl.com/y5gvdt8a

23.01.2022 Want to join our amazing team in Cambodia? Were looking to recruit a Programs and Operations Advisor to start in April. Apply now. Applications close Monday 24th February.

23.01.2022 It's flooding in Cambodia right now and we are seeing a drastic increase in sickness and skin conditions as people wade through dirty waters in their homes. Please help us provide medicines, shelter repair, water-proof storage, laundry detergent, raincoats and gumboots for those drastically affected. Donate now at www.voice.org.au

22.01.2022 SUCCESS STORY: Phanna asked Voice to borrow $25 when she lost her job at a factory due to COVID. With no money and no way to pay rent or buy food for her three children, she had to act fast to find a new way to earn an income. The $25 small business loan from Voice empowered Phanna to create an amazing business selling delicious food (Voice staff can verify that the food is indeed delicious - we love buying from her stall). Phanna has already paid back her loan and is lookin...g to further expand her business (Go Phanna!). With just $25 assistance from Voice, she can now earn enough to look after her family as well as care for her children while the schools are closed. The big bonus is that Phannas children are loving helping their mum, calculating how much change to give customers, and learning about how to run a small business. They want to run the business themselves one day. Donate today to help a family like Phannas earn an income and get themselves out of crisis. Just $25 can change lives: https://tinyurl.com/y5gvdt8a * Names changed for privacy purposes #resilience #microfinance #cambodia #selfsustainable #independence

21.01.2022 THANK YOU!! Thanks to your donations, Voice purchased 100 raincoats and 100 gumboots for our clients affected by flooding in Cambodia. To say they liked them is an understatement. Some of the kids went straight out in their new attire just to sit in the rain and enjoy it.

21.01.2022 Never a dull moment at Voice. Today we had to call an ambulance for a client who came to us wanting our help to access a hospital and who passed out and stopped breathing while visiting us. Hell be staying in hospital for at least the next few days. Please join us in hoping for his fast and full recovery.

21.01.2022 Voice has rapidly adapted to respond to the risks posed by COVID-19. All of our staff are working from home and are in regular contact with our clients via telephone. We have made alternative arrangements for our public services such as our daily lunch program, homework assistance program, and our community-centre drop in. We are still delivering our crisis response services while trying to take as many safety precautions as possible. We are bracing ourselves for new crisis cases in the coming months. Heres the latest data from the Ministry of Health, compiled by Lichado.

21.01.2022 Check out our latest newsletter explaining why we need your help now more than ever. https://mailchi.mp/524e9ae33f38/urgent_update_from_voice

21.01.2022 Voice knows every child has a right to education but here in Cambodia, many students are asked to pay additional or informal school fees directly to their teachers. These fees are unofficial and unaffordable for many of the students we work with, costing a family upwards of a third of their annual income. In response, Voice caseworkers have been working tirelessly with schools to advocate for our students, hosting meetings with school principals and writing letters to protect them from additional unexpected fees. Whilst this practice continues, Voice will be there listening and advocating to keep kids in school.

20.01.2022 For all of our children in grades 9-12 out of school right now.

20.01.2022 Volunteer blood donations in Cambodia have almost completely stopped since the start of COVID, plunging many of our clients with Thalassaemia (a genetic blood disorder requiring regular blood transfusions) into crisis. Due to the alarming shortage of blood in Cambodia, the blood centre have stopped honouring our blood donation card system and our clients haven't been able to get the donor blood they need for their monthly blood transfusions. We are very lucky that we have had a few brave heroes, like this young man, work with us and our clients to ensure his blood donation enables a young person with Thalassaemia to get the blood transfusion they need to survive. We can't thank this man enough. If you are in Cambodia and are able to donate blood, please contact us. We have many sick clients in desperate need of blood.

20.01.2022 VOICE CONTINUES TO DELIVER ESSENTIAL CRISIS RELIEF IN CAMBODIA DURING COVID-19 Many of the families we work with have been dramatically affected by the economic downturn caused by COVID-19. Many have no income at all. Some cannot even afford to eat. While we have stopped our daily soup kitchen program for public safety reasons, we are dedicated to serving our clients. We have been working hard to adapt our service provision in these trying times in order to make sure our cl...ients in crisis receive the food and services they need to survive and also that our staff and clients are safe. Please spare a thought for these front line workers and our clients in crisis during this time. It is stressful and doesnt look like it will get easier soon, but the courage, determination, and resilience of our staff is shining through. Here are some photos of our staff delivering food rations and other hygiene products to some of our clients today.

19.01.2022 Happy Human Rights Day!! I am very proud to have founded an organisation with the core aim of helping people access their fundamental human rights regardless of their age, sex, gender, religion, race, colour, or political opinion. It is easy to say that everybody has the right to food, shelter, clothing, education, safety, healthcare, and employment, but these basic human rights are out of reach to the people we work with. Our VOICE staff work every day to change that. We he...lp sick people access medical care, hungry people to access food, homeless people to access homes, children to access schooling, abuse victims to access safety, unemployed people to access income opportunities, and we help people in crisis find sustainable, long-term ways to get out of crisis. Today is the 71st birthday of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. At VOICE we are committed to ensuring that everyone we meet have access to their fundamental human rights. Make a donation now to join the movement to make human rights universal. www.voice.org.au/donate

19.01.2022 Announcement: RE-OPENING OUR DAILY FOOD PROGRAM With all of our staff vaccinated and many people in Cambodia still experiencing significant hunger, commune leaders have given Voice special permission to restart our daily food program (under strict COVID-safe rules) to ensure people are fed. Starting this week, our staff will provide 111 people with a nutritional meal each day (well over 500 meals a week) and we will continue our provision of crisis food rations to families ...in need. 18.01.2022 Voice is committed to supporting our staffs ongoing professional development to enhance practice and ultimately better support our communities. This week, Voices casework manager travelled to Battambang to participate a learning exchange on case management, organised by the FCF React Network.

18.01.2022 Giving blood for VOICE who support disadvantaged community in Phnom Penh.

17.01.2022 CRISIS CASE: This mother gave birth on her own on the side of a busy road in Cambodia yesterday morning. When Voice learn about cases like this, we jump into action. We only wish we had met her earlier to have helped her give birth in hospital. I truly cannot imagine having to give birth on the side of the road. https://cne.wtf/2020//08/homeless-woman-gives-birth-on-mtt/

17.01.2022 Last week Voice staff watched the COVID Ambulance collect more than 3 separate patients in one day from our street and take them away. This video was taken by staff from inside our Voice Community Centre. This pandemic is very real and we are working in the middle of it.

17.01.2022 At Voice, we keep overheads low to ensure that donations go exactly where they should - direct services to support people experiencing crisis. We dont spend money on anything that isnt needed and stretch every dollar as far as possible to change the lives of some of the poorest, most vulnerable people in the world. We help people in crisis in Cambodia access their fundamental human rights, regain independence, and establish sustainable livelihoods so eventually they no longer need our help. So, please, help us to make a difference in the lives of people who really need it. Every dollar counts. Click on the pink Donate Now button on our website to donate: www.voice.org.au

17.01.2022 Want to join our amazing team? Were looking to recruit a Programs and Operations Advisor based in Cambodia to start in April. Apply now. Applications close Monday 24th February.

16.01.2022 Voice knows that knowledge is power and that educating children and young people is one of the key ways that we can keep them safe in our communities. Today, Voice case workers delivered a child protection training to high-risk children and young people in an outreach community teaching strategies to keep safe from sexual and other forms of child abuse.

15.01.2022 The last Thursday of every month is a pupil free day for school children in Cambodia. Knowing the difficulties faced by children in the BK community, Voice harnessed this opportunity for a monthly activity day to keep these students engaged, fed and mentally stimulated. Here are some pics from last month including story time and puzzles at our Community Centre.

15.01.2022 Saying a big thank you to the donations received from the Toul Tompong community! These donations will go a long way to replenishing items lost in a house fire in Toul Sincae.

14.01.2022 Voice is welcoming the weekend with a good news story from our crisis support service. Almost 3 months ago, Chenda was in a serious motorbike accident where he sustained a brain injury and was left temporarily paralyzed. Without enough money to afford medication or ongoing check-ups, he was sent home to be cared for by his wife, who was also providing care for their 5 children. After being contacted by Chendas wife for support, Voice caseworkers provided emergency food packages, purchased vital medication and provided ongoing grief counseling for his family. Today Voice visited Chenda to find him in good spirits, sitting upright and enjoying a full meal and we couldnt be happier. Donations go a long way to enabling us to provide life-saving support to our clients, and for this, we thank you!

13.01.2022 Did you know that up to 80% of communicable diseases are transferred by touch? Proper hand washing can reduce diarrhea rates by 40%, respiratory infections by close to 20%, and 50% of all foodborne illness outbreaks. Prevention is better than cure. Our wonderful Voice team provide regular trainings on personal hygiene - its just part of our daily efforts to improve health and wellbeing in Cambodia.

12.01.2022 VOICE STAFF ARE AMAZING! Our international advisors returned to Australia in March due to COVID, however our amazing team of Cambodian staff have continued our important work and have really stepped up as leaders. They have had to face a huge influx of new clients in crisis as well as implement big changes to ensure our service provision was safe in a coronavirus environment. This is a picture of our amazing Country Representative and Case Work Manager, Theany, training children on child rights and child safety yesterday. We are lucky to have her leading our Voice Team.

11.01.2022 Crisis Case Update: our wonderful Voice case workers loaded themselves with clothes, blankets, nappies, food, water, and their best listening ears to visit the courageous mother who gave birth on the side of a busy road with noone to help her just 48 hours ago. We are working with the hospital to ensure she receives the best care and we will continue to work with her to help her and her beautiful new baby transition into a safe and supportive living environment once she leaves hospital.

09.01.2022 Today we celebrate Sreynichs success, launching her own business selling drinks. With a small loan from Voice, Sreynich was able to purchase this business, shifting her earnings from $2.50/day collecting rubbish to over $25/day. Providing small, interest-free loans is one way Voice supports clients to transition from crisis to independence. But of course, success would also not be possible without our clients hard work and resilience!

09.01.2022 Voice caseworkers were pleased to visit Sophy today to find her working on her small business, selling Sticky Rice (Treab). On our first meeting we learned she was sharing a home with 4 other families as well as caring for her own 3 children, leaving her with no time to earn an income and putting significant pressure on the family to afford their rent. Voice was able to relieve some of this pressure by providing transport to school and daily lunches for her children. She now has time to focus on her business, which supports her family and the four other families sharing her home. We are so proud of Sophys commitment, pleased to be able to relieve some pressure, and have to say, her Sticky Rice is delicious! Please help us to continue to support families like Sophys by donating here: https://www.voice.org.au/giveagift

09.01.2022 Did you know that 90% of the bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails? EWW! Our wonderful Voice team provide regular trainings on personal hygiene, and often help children cut their nails, brush their teeth, and wash. Its just part of our daily efforts to improve health and wellbeing in Cambodia.

08.01.2022 Voice is working harder than ever to help people in crisis in Cambodia right now.

05.01.2022 Can you imagine living like this? These photos show the flooding in just a few of our clients homes in Cambodia right now. Voice staff are working overtime to assist but we need your help to provide medicines, shelter repairs, temporary accommodation, waterproof storage containers, laundry detergent, raincoats and gumboots. Many of our clients already have poor health, but we have seen a significant spike in sickness due to infectious bacteria/viruses/protozoans in the water they have to wade through every day. Please donate if you can at: www.voice.org.au

04.01.2022 EXCITING UPDATE Today marked the first day of what we hope is a long partnership between Voice and Mamas Kitchen. Thanks to Mamas Kitchen, we are able to expand our services to provide an additional 60 people in crisis with regular meals out of our new community centre. Due to COVID, many people in Cambodia have lost their jobs, have no income, and are really struggling to know where their next meal will come from. Voice has seen an unprecendented rise in people in crisis needing our services. With already stretched resources, we have had to find innovative ways to meet the needs of these new clients. Thankfully, Mamas Kitchen have partnered with us and are providing sustainable vegan meals for many of these new clients.

02.01.2022 Thank you to our amazing partner @Mama's Kitchen for this lovely post about Voice and for providing over 3000 delicious and nutritious plant-based meals to our clients in crisis over the past few months.
