13.01.2022 VOLLEYBALL HORSHAM A GRADE SUMMER SEASON 2021. In the lead up to the 2021 Summer Season we’re going to introduce you to some of the key members of each A grade team. In the endeavours of creating an even competition and ensuring all teams have structure and players playing in their preferred position, the Association creates each A grade team. Each team will have a marquise player, an X-factor player, Pup On The Up which refers to a young player on the rise and a ...Girl Power player which is that teams key female player. The first team we will look at is Phantoms. MARQUISE PLAYER Kara Johnson the Association’s leading female player and key setter Johnson will run her team’s offense and will be the one organising the teams line up and keeping the Vettos and Baker siblings in order. X-FACTOR PLAYER Dimitrios Vettos returning after a long lay off can the former grade MVP recapture his best, and be the go to passhitter for his team? How well he combines in defense with little brother Loucas will be worth the admission ticket alone? PUP ON THE UP Lloyd Baker is a strong fit middle blocker who finished last year in great form. Can the young gun pick up where he left off and be an attacking force? How well Baker combines with Johnson will be the key for this team’s chances. GIRL POWER Cleo Baker the hard hitting left hander will play a huge role as the team’s key passhitter and general in defense. There will be plenty of laughs when the Baker kids get together in the passing row, so be prepared for the start of World War 3! Other team members are Loucas Vettos and Tyler Puls. Both boys play within their limitations and will be solid contributors to the overall success of this team. Vettos with his guile and unorthodox play and Puls with his steadiness. SEASON CHANCES Johnson has a very handy team here and couldn’t have put together a more consistent group if she had have hand picked the team herself. If the Vettos and Baker siblings can combine well they have the makings of a strong team but we all know when it comes to brothers and sisters playing together in the same team, it doesn’t always pan out the way we expect. But still, Phantoms will start out as premiership favourites #volleyballhorsham

04.01.2022 In the lead up to the 2021 Summer Season we’re going to introduce you to some of the key members of each A grade team. In the endeavours of creating an even competition and ensuring all teams have structure and players playing in their preferred position, the Association creates each A grade team. Each team will have a marquise player, an X-factor player, Pup On The Up which refers to a young player on the rise and a Girl Power player which is that teams key femal...e player. The second team we will look at is Shados Inala. MARQUISE PLAYER Tim Popple the Association’s most experienced and decorated player can still influence a game with his power hitting and smarts. Will be the one in charge of his line up and how he places his players will be the key to their chances. X-FACTOR PLAYER Will Saligari the high leaping Saligari can play passhitter or middle and have an influence. Will be the go to player for Popple when the team needs a point, and his understanding with setter Hannah Whyte will be crucial. PUP ON THE UP Alex Baker plays a very measured and controlled game, Baker players within his limitations which is a good trait to have. Big and strong, Baker finished last year in good form and Popple will be hoping he picks up where he left off. GIRL POWER Hannah Whyte will be the team’s setter and how she distributes the ball to her hitters will be the key to their success. Is brave in defense and has a great attitude towards the game. Whyte will benefit greatly by having the experienced Popple guiding her. Other team members are Caleb Smith, Ned Pilmore and Blake Turner. The three youngsters have height on their side to create a presence on the net. SEASON CHANCES With Popple and Saligari providing the power hitting and Whyte ever consistent with her setting Shados Inala will be in the mix come finals. The three of them will need to combine well with youngsters Baker, Smith, Pilmore and Turner and as long as those four can hold their own, Shados Inala will win more games than they lose #volleyballhorsham #agrade
