24.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: Three-step framework to guide the relaxation of restrictions. The Federal Government has announced today a 3-step plan aimed at returning Australia to a more normal way of life. Stage 1 essentially covers all businesses, activities and social gatherings with a 10-person limit. It includes retails stores and cafes/restaurants being allowed to reopen but with trading restrictions. Stage 2 would include larger gatherings of up to 20 people, including galleries a...nd cinemas, as well as the return of organised community sport. Stage 3 would include larger gatherings of up to 100 people. The framework is national, but the timeline of each step will come down to the individual states and territories. Physical distancing to remain throughout all three steps. Its important to: keep testing for coronavirus if presenting symptoms, download the COVIDSafe app, maintaining 1.5M distancing, good hygiene and stay home if unwell, in order to ensure the loosening of social distancing restrictions does not cause a resurgence of the virus. For more information, please visit: 3 Step Framework for a COVIDSafe Australia: https://prod.static9.net.au//e8cb19bb-ca0b-48e7-82b2-b6447

17.01.2022 Limits on public gatherings for coronavirus (COVID-19) Public gatherings significantly increase the risk of COVID-19 spreading. On 29 March the National Cabinet agreed to further limit most indoor and outdoor non-essential gathering to 2 people. Rules on essential gatherings are also in place. Find out what limits apply. Why these limits are important These limits help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They are especially important for at risk people, such as older people an...d those with chronic conditions. Individual states and territories may choose how to reinforce the requirements. Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice for older people Everybody is at risk of contracting COVID-19 so you need to protect yourself and others. Older people over the age of 60, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people over the age of 50, are at greater risk of more serious illness with COVID-19. 14.01.2022 STAR is here to help call 3821 6699 30 March 2020 - Vulnerable people advised to stay home The Prime Minister strongly advised that people aged over 70, those with a chronic illness aged over 60, and Indigenous Australians over the age of 50 should stay at home as much as practical. "This is for their own protection to limit their interaction with others in the community," he said.... "This does not mean they cannot go outside. They can go outside and be accompanied by a support person for the purposes of getting some fresh air, some recreation, but they should limit contact with others as much as possible." Mr Morrison encouraged those people to contact community organisations or volunteer groups to organise for groceries and medicines to be delivered. https://www.abc.net.au//public-gatherings-limited/12101162 See more

We have a Pandemic Response Management team led by an experienced emergency response manager. Their function is to coordinate our Pandemic Plan, putting necessary precautions in place to ensure against the spread of COVID-19. Our approach will always be in-line with expert advice and please be assured that STAR is following the advice of the Chief Medical Office and the Department of Health. 09.01.2022 A message from Councillor Lance Hewlett, Redland Council Councils grants program to address COVID-19 crisis Redland City Council has released a $370,000 grants package to support local community organisations and businesses impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Mayor Karen Williams said the COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Grants Program followed a Council decision to repurpose existing grants within this years remaining budget to help meet some of the financial challenges arisin...g for community groups and businesses from COVID-19. This grants program is all about getting our local businesses and community groups the help they need to continue serving the community, Cr Williams said. The first stream is aimed at providing support to community organisations that are assisting people directly impacted by the crisis. These organisations are eligible for grants of up to $10,000 to support their efforts. We are aware that many community members are doing it tough at the moment, whether it be through job loss, isolation, homelessness or other COVID-19 impacts, and we are pleased to be able to back community organisations that are supporting these people. Cr Williams said the second stream would support local businesses in critical need of support due to the impact of COVID-19 with grants of up to $1000 per business for professional advice. There are a number of stimulus measures available for businesses, but we know the information can be confusing and when you are financially and emotionally stressed it can be even more difficult to know what you are and arent eligible for, she said. This funding will help businesses get the professional advice they need to access the right funding and support for their individual business. Cr Williams said Council would also provide $80,000 to help businesses innovate during the COVID-19 crisis. Businesses will be able to apply for funding to the value of $5000 to help them find new ways to deliver their business to the community, she said. This may include the use of technology, research and design or innovative products, services, projects or collaborations. Cr Williams said Council was fielding many calls from business owners seeking advice on how to deal with the varied impacts of the unprecedented business environment. These business grants will support impacted local businesses to get the targeted professional advice they need, she said. They will also support businesses employing innovative ways to pivot their products and services to capture new opportunities. For more information, visit Councils website or contact Council on 3829 8999. Stay well, stay safe.

08.01.2022 COVID-19 Our path back Flatten the curve. Weve managed to flatten the curve were doing well so far. (See video: https://youtu.be/7S5T2cgzw-k) Australias path back depends on 3 critical things before restrictions can be further eased: 1) More Community Testing: To make sure those people who have COVID-19 are identified, even if they are not showing symptoms. 2) Rapid Health Response: To quickly stop out-breaks, more rapid health response teams should be rolled out in ...each State and Territory. 3) COVIDSafe app: To speed up how those people exposed to COVID19 are notified. Still, it is important to continue practicing social distancing & home confinement, in addition to: washing your hands regularly + covering your coughs and sneezes + avoiding touching your face + keeping 1.5 metres away from others. Physical distancing measures are still in place across Australia; nevertheless, some states, such as Queensland, are revising restrictions on public gatherings. 07.01.2022 Queenslanders are doing well, lets keep this curve flat! https://www.qld.gov.au//coronavi/current-status/statistics

07.01.2022 We did it! Well done everyone for keeping each other Covid safe.

05.01.2022 The next phase of Modelling, Nowcasting, has begun. Nowcasting is the concept of using date from the previous 14 days to more accurately understand the present state of the epidemic, given the known time from infection to illness and imperfect case finding. From this point, model forecasts can be projected to estimate what the next fortnight will bring based on the current rate of epidemic growth. It is estimated that overall, Australia is currently detecting aprox. 92% of ...all symptomatic cases, with each state and territory individually detecting over 80%. This proportion will be influenced by the current case definition and testing recommendations, and it is likely to change as the pandemic evolves. While the current results are reassuring, Nowcasting will continue, with the expectation that the rate of epidemic growth in Australia will change over time as public health measures are tightened or reduced. For now, it is important that all Australians remain vigilant in practicing social distancing measures to protect vulnerable people, to continue to flatten the curve and ultimately to help save lives. Prime Ministers update on coronavirus that discusses this issue: https://www.pm.gov.au/me/update-coronavirus-measures-160420 COVID-19 at a glance: https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-at-a-glanc Stay Healthy. Stay Safe.

05.01.2022 COVID19 Advice for Older People. Advice is unchanged from Government regarding restrictions placed on our aged cohort. For now: It is of the utmost importance for all of us to understand that the following people are at greater risk of more serious illness if they are infected with coronavirus - There is no cure or vaccine for coronavirus, or immunity in the community, so they need to protect themselves: People aged 70 years and over People aged 65 years and over wit...h chronic medical conditions People with compromised immune systems Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 As Queensland and the rest of Australia move to a COVIDSafe phase, it is vital for people at greater risk of serious illness if they get coronavirus, to take additional steps to protect themselves -you should maintain good hygiene and take care when interacting with other people as these are the best defences for you and your family against COVID19: Covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue Disposing of used tissues immediately into a rubbish bin and washing your hands Washing your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet, and when you have been out to shops or other places Using alcohol-based hand sanitisers (60% alcohol), where available Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces you have touched Staying 1.5 metres away -2 arms length- from other people (this is an example of physical distancing) Continuing to stay at home and avoid contact with others Continuing to avoid non-essential travel Considering having the chemist deliver your medicines Considering having your groceries and essential items delivered to your home (Assistance with food/meals) Downloading the COVIDSafeapp to your smartphone for the times you do need to go out *In order to keep Australia Safe we all need to play our part Lets keep ourselves and our loved ones Safe* For more information, visit: https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for
