16.01.2022 Some more pictures of our incredible CWON team getting ready to distribute more food to hungry families affected by the Covid-19 lockdown. If you are in a position to donate, please email us at [email protected]

15.01.2022 As you all are aware, Covid-19 is having a huge impact around the world, not only through illness and loss of life but also impacting people’s ability to work. Our friends in CWON Nepal are struggling to make ends meet through their own personal incomes but still want to assist those people less fortunate in rural Nepali communities that are struggling to even feed their families right now. We completely understand the struggle that most of us are facing right now however the...re are people that are also affected by Covid-19 and do not have the luxuries we have (comfortable home/stocked pantry & social security benefits). We are kindly asking anyone who is in a position to donate to our friends in CWON Nepal so they can provide basic food such as rice and lentils to those unable to afford it otherwise. So if anyone is able to donate, please email us at [email protected] and we will provide you with our CWON bank details. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided. Thank you and stay safe See more

It was so great having some past Cambodia volunteers join us again! Also a massive thank you to our fabulous Monalisa family and the local Nepalese staff that make our programs possible and take such amazing care of our volunteers! Stay tuned for our 2020 program dates

13.01.2022 Whilst Australia is showing solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement in the US, we need to also recognise that Australia has a similar problem. 432 First Nations people have died in custody since 1991 with 5 deaths in the past year. This is our national shame that First Nations people have been trying to address for years. It’s great that this issue in Australia has been put into the mainstream spotlight recently but we need to do more than just share hashtags on soci...al media. We need to use our privilege to amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of colour against systemic racism and fight alongside them. There are some very simple ways you can directly support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people however these should be used as a starting point and not just as a checklist. - SUPPORT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s businesses by following/sharing their pages and purchasing items such as art/clothing/jewellery https://supplynation.org.au https://instagram.com/blakbusiness?igshid=1nxxyim5mxcj https://clothingthegap.com.au - DONATE to families whose loved ones died in police custody such as Tanya Day or David Dungay and also to organisations such as Sisters Inside and Indigenous Social Justice Association https://au.gofundme.com/f/d9qkb6-justice-for-david https://au.gofundme.com/f/day-family-fundraiser https://docs.google.com//1kpse8wqYdjmPrtJPLWnT4R/htmlview - PROTEST, there are peaceful protests happening all over Australia to show support of the Black Lives Matter Movement and to protest Indigenous deaths in custody. A lot of them are happening this Saturday 6th June. It is also so important to support/attend the Invasion Day rallies on Australia Day and support changing the date https://www.pedestrian.tv//australia-black-lives-matter-p/ - EDUCATE yourself through books (White Tears Brown Scars by Ruby Hamad), podcasts (Speaking Out/Pretty For An Aboriginal), movies (Mabo on ABC iview), etc etc and call out racism when you encounter it, especially at the dinner table at home. We need to work towards being actively anti-racist as opposed to just non racist. We need to keep this conversation going especially if it feels uncomfortable. This list should be used as the bare minimum to show some solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people and people of colour but we all need to do more and research more! We are responsible for our own education when it comes to the Black Lives Matter movement, experiences of people of colour and our own Australian history. https://www.theguardian.com//australia-still-turns-a-blind

13.01.2022 A massive thank you to everyone who donated to our friends in CWON Nepal to support people who are unable to feed their families. We received a total of $1000USD (around $1600AUD) in donations which has made a huge difference and will feed many people! Each family that is struggling is getting delivered: - 30kg of rice - 5kg of potatoes... - 5kg of lentils - 2 bottles of oil - 1 packet of salt If there is anyone else that would like to donate to CWON, please email us at [email protected]

09.01.2022 Another amazing time up in the Chepang Hills in Chitwan, Nepal! Our volunteers educated the Chepang community about all things health and hygiene! It is absolutely freezing up in the hills during this time of year so warm clothes were also distributed. Thank you to our amazing Monalisa family and the local staff that help make this trip into the hills possible! If you want to join us on our next program, go to svpi.org.au for more info
